In loving memory of

John David Butler

John David Butler, loving husband, son and brother, passed away on October 11, 2019 in Los Angeles at the age of 30.

John was born on April 29, 1989 in Phoenix, AZ to Bruce Butler and Ginger Van Patten. He attended Horizon High School and went on to Graduate from NAU from the School of Construction Management. He worked for Penta Building Group, exceling as a Project Engineer and then Project Manager in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. On October 12, 2017, he married the love of his life, Ashley Layton.

John could fix anything by watching a You Tube video and was always willing to help out his less able loved ones. He loved to learn and watch historical documentaries and figure out how things worked. In a debate, he was usually right and encouraged people to Google fact-check him. Despite being born in the desert, he loved winter sports, playing hockey for HHS and at NAU and snowboarding daily at Snowbowl after his morning classes. He had a top score of 29 under in Golden Tee, but rarely beat his favorite opponent, his Dad. Above all, his family will remember his gentle spirit and infectious laugh.

John is survived by his wife, Ashley; his parents, Bruce Butler and Judi Nulliner, and Ginger & Barry Van Patten; his siblings, Ashley Butler, Logan Nulliner, and Barry & Heath Van Patten; his grandparents, Mary Lou Smith, and Aliene & Hrand Duvalian, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins who will all miss him dearly.

Please join us celebrating John's life on Saturday morning October 26, 2019 at 11:00AM at Grace Chapel, Scottsdale Bible Church, 7601 East Shea Blvd Scottsdale, AZ 85260
