Lois L. Retman - Young
August 26, 1937 - March 8, 2020

Lois Lorene (Retman) Young, age 82 of Newton, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Newton Health Care in Newton. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial will follow at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Friday, March 13, 2020, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church n Colfax. The daughter of Calvin and Hazel Elvina (Smith) Miller, Lois was born on August 26, 1937 in Vandalia, Iowa. She attended Newton Senior High School. On May 2, 1953, Lois was united in marriage to Alfred A. Retman in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away on December 2, 1987. She later married Clifford Young in July of 1999 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Clifford passed away in 2005. Lois drove a school bus for the Colfax Mingo School district for many years. She was a 50 plus year member of the Howard Street Christian Church.
Those left to honor her memory include her children; Michael Allen Retman, Calvin "Craig" Retman, and Deborah June Yount; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are her life partner, Wiley D. Gray; and siblings, Jerry Miller, Connie Bos, Fred Miller and Phyllis James. Preceding Lois in death were her parents, husbands, a granddaughter; a son Steven E. Retman and a daughter, Denice L. Barnes.

Her generosity and hospitality were second to none. I loved the days as a boy we would go to visit Al and Lois for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am praying for the family. They were so very privileged to have had parents so precious. God Bless you. "
