Mildred

Millie, 84, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2017, at Hospice of the Valley's Ryan House. She leaves behind a daughter Elise (Beth) Bartlett; a sister Evelyn Noice; a brother Elvin Payne (Lorraine); nieces, nephews, and a community of loving friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Herb, and a sister, Louise. Born in Morris, Illinois to Emma and Merle Payne, she moved to Phoenix in 1973 and spent a long career at Mountain Bell/US West before transitioning to a second career as an Activities Director in Senior Living Communities. Passionate about her choir and women's harmony groups, her friends and family will remember her love of music, her spirit of generosity, and her smile that would light up a room. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Orangewood Presbyterian Church, 7321 N. 10th Street, Phoenix 85020.
