In loving memory of

Judith Arlyn Davies

Judy Davies, 80, of Phoenix, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 with family by her side. She was born July 8, 1936 in Winona, MN, the oldest child of Edward and Lillian Gilsdorf. She graduated from Lewiston (MN) High School where she was the valedictorian of the class of 1954. She then attended Winona State Teachers College as did her future husband Evan Davies. They married in April 1958. In November of 1959, they and their first-born packed up and moved to Phoenix, Arizona to join family. Shortly thereafter in 1960 Judy became a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church and in October 1961 moved into their estate in the Sunnyslope neighborhood where she lived to her last day. Judy was quiet and unassuming, but also unflappable, and reveled in the absurdities of everyday life. Judy's true passion was taking care of her family and she loved being a full-time homemaker. But she also found time to be the manager of the nursery at Northgate Bowling Alley and worked at the Valley of the Sun Convention and Visitors Bureau thru the years. Among many other things, she loved to travel as often as she could, the closest library, the Desert Botanical Garden, the art of Ted DeGrazia and the music of Elvis Presley. Survivors include husband Evan Davies; sisters Teri Czuprynski and Susan Mooney; daughter Nancy Soucy; son Roger Davies; and grandchildren Max Soucy, Alec Soucy, and Olivia (Soucy) Perron. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lillian Gilsdorf; brother Donald Gilsdorf; and son Victor Davies. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 17, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 9424 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix 85021. Visit https://hansenmortuary.wpengine.com for condolences.
