In loving memory of

Michael Anthony Causey

Mike Causey passed away peacefully in Phoenix, Arizona on December 24th, 2017.

Originally from Mount Vernon, Indiana he was born on January 19th, 1940 to Marjorie Maurer and William Causey and brother to David Causey.
He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for four years with tours in Syracuse, New York and Darmstadt, Germany.

It was in Darmstadt towards the very end of his tour where he first met the love of his life, Hilge "Sue" Zander.
Dad decided to stay in Germany and marry Sue. He worked for the Stars and Stripes newspaper for one year before accepting a position as a government service employee for the U.S. Army.
Mike retired in 2008 after giving everything he had in service to his beloved country for 40 plus years. Much love to everyone who worked with him at 5th Signal Command!

After settling down in his new home, Mike picked up a new hobby that would have a profound impact on his life. The game of golf.
A long time member of Heidelberg Golf Club and Rheintal Golf Club he developed great friendships with many who are reading this. Thank you!! all for coming into our father's life.
No words will ever do it justice as to what the game and all of you meant to him. You know. We know.

Only the love for his wife, two children and his four grandchildren, his brother and his family exceeded the joy of chasing the little white ball around.
Mike was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Sue, as well as his only sibling David.
Mike is survived by his son Michael, his daughter Deborah and four grandchildren, Tatum, Sydney, Cameron and Jordan.

Services will be held in Eschollbruecken, Germany to reunite our parents. Exact date and time to be announced and communicated through various outlets.

"Mike, We are all still very much in shock and it is difficult to expressive the immense sadness that your passing away has triggered in all of us. You will always be remembered in our thoughts and hearts not only as the talented golfer you are but as the kind friend you became to every one of us. Your smile and open demeanor that always greeted us at the golf course, that was so contagious and put smiles on our faces. It was a pleasure to call you a friend. You shall be missed a lot. RIP in peace our dear friend. Tom & Kimberly"

"Mike was a loyal friend and dedicated professional who did an outstanding job in managing all the high dollar Bill of Materials (BOM) accounts used to modernize the U.S. Army Communication support in Europe. When 5th Sig moved to Mannheim, Mike and I were assigned to one office (that we shared with Delia for secretarial support) and we became close friends who covered for each other when away from the office on business or leave. Mike always treated people with kindness and respect. He was a quality individual that will truly be missed."

Geoff Little wrote on Jan 7, 2018:

"Luxembourg, 20 years ago, at the annual ?Stars and Stripes? Golf Tournament is where I met Mike first ? I enjoyed it so much that it became an important fixture in my own calendar ? last week of August ? Luxembourg, golf and Mike! Our friendship developed over the years in such a way that Mike used to drop by on some Friday evenings to meet me and other expats at our weekly Stammtisch , where he was accepted by all, becoming a welcome presence whenever he arrived, especially at our raucous Xmas parties. Two more of the group, Kevin (Bones) and Christopher, too, became regular Lux guys and Mike will live on in our recollections of all the good times we shared in all the years past. My wife, Surekha, co-owns a pub where we would often eat later ? mussels or fish and chips, Mike?s favourites. I think he particularly liked going there as it is on the same square that his late wife Sue?s family lived when he met her all those many many years ago. It brought back the memories. Writing this brings back so many memories and brings tears to my eyes. We shall miss Mike a lot. RIP Mike!"

"I?m so very sorry to hear about Mike?s passing. I?m blessed to have met Mike a couple years ago. I only wish I had the pleasure many years earlier. We had many good times together; most of them on the golf course Heidelberg Rheintal. I always enjoyed playing with - and against him. He served as an example for me - not only in golf. I will never forget that he always sends a kiss to his wife Sue, when he left the 18th green. Mike was a very great and special person and a very good friend to me.
