John Joseph Hoffer

John Joseph "Jack" Hoffer passed from this life on April 11, 2019 in Phoenix, Arizona. Jack was the only child born to Clifford and Viola Hoffer in South Bend, Indiana on February 19, 1929. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1947 and began working as a machinist at Bendix Automotive in South Bend.

Jack met Janet Beavers of Mt. Summit, Indiana while she was renting a room from his aunt and uncle and working in South Bend. The couple married in Mt. Summit on September 10, 1950 and recently celebrated 68 years of marriage.

Jack joined the U.S. Army in 1948 and rose to rank of Sergeant while serving in the Korean War. He continued served in the U.S. Army Reserve until 1960. Jack moved his family to Phoenix in the summer of 1960.

He was employed for Arden-Mayfair Inc. for over 27 years in Phoenix. In 1987, he became an inspector for Karsten Manufacturing, retiring in 1997.

Jack is survived by his wife Janet; son Paul (Karla) Hoffer of Tempe, AZ; daughter Susan Hoffer of Glendale, AZ; three granddaughters Krista Hoffer of Pattaya, Thailand, Kendall Hoffer of Tempe, AZ and Katelyn Hoffer of Tempe, Arizona.

Jack was a true servant who enjoyed helping others and celebrating their successes. He spent many hours in retirement helping others until health issues made it difficult to continue. His service included supporting family, friends, neighbors and those he worshipped with at Desert Christian Fellowship.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2019, 11:00 AM at Desert Christian Fellowship, 1445 W. Northern Ave., Phoenix, AZ  85021.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the benevolent fund at Desert Christian Fellowship in support of those whom are in need.

Private inurnment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
