Glenna Mae Lewis was born September 28, 1932, to Harvey and Edith (Ethrington) Lewis in Fowler, CO. At age six, the family moved to Iowa. She attended country school near Zearing, IA, and graduated from Zearing High School in 1951 as Class Salutatorian. Glenna received a teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) and taught school in Laurel and Hubbard School Districts. Murray and Glenna later divorced. After retiring from Lennox in 1997, Glenna moved back to Marshalltown. In retirement, Glenna loved tending to her vegetable garden, growing beautiful flowers, preparing wonderful meals, and spoiling her grandchildren, who were the love of her life.

"So sorry for your loss... mostly this is to Earl, just wanted you to know I remember when that pretty young teacher came to Laurel. I didn?t have her for a teacher, but I remember seeing her in the halls and on the playground. I don?t remember what grade we were when she came, but I remember her... I talked with Beth yesterday on the phone and she didn?t remember either, but Glenna left a lasting impression. Marilyn Ceaser Riggins, Class of ?58"
