LaVonne M. Edeker
August 5, 1937 - March 11, 2020

LaVonne Marie Edeker, 82, of Allison, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 16 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church - Vilmar in rural, Greene, with Rev. Christopher Martin officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, March 15 at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home in Allison. Private family burial will take place in the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery-Vilmar in rural Greene.

LaVonne was born August 5, 1937, in rural Howard County, to Ole and Alice Johnson. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1955. She furthered her education, completing two years at Bethany College in Mankato, Minnesota, and Iowa State Teachers College (UNI) where she received her teaching degree. LaVonne taught for a couple years in Scarville, a few years in Greene, and 30 years at Allison-Bristow for a total of 36 years.

She was united in marriage to Roy H. Edeker on June 10, 1962, at Jerico Lutheran Church. LaVonne was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church - Vilmar in rural Greene. She also participated in many programs at the Little Yellow Schoolhouse in Allison. She enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. LaVonne also enjoyed studying genealogy and was a world traveler, traveling to many countries with her sister Adis including: Norway, Canada, England, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Monaco, Finland, Sweden, Greece, Italy and Russia.

LaVonne will be greatly missed by her sons: Kevin (Rhonda) Edeker, of Allison, and Steven (Jennifer) Edeker, of Tripoli; grandchildren: Cheere and Monica Edeker, both of Allison, Jason Edeker, of Greene, Stefanie, Kimberley, Jeremy and Natalee Edeker, all of Tripoli; and great-granddaughter, Emily Edeker, of Allison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy H. Edeker; brothers, Cal Johnson and Paul Johnson; and sister Adis Covell.
