William A. Gillen, on January 26, 2014, passed peacefully in the home he built in Glendora, with his family by his side. Age 86.
Beloved husband of 65 years of Irene (nee Scheck). Devoted father of Kathleen Lampman (Leo, III), Colleen McWilliams (Dennis) and the late William A., Jr. "Billy" and William A., III "Rusty". Loving grandfather of Christine Brooks (Joseph), Leo A. Lampman, IV (Danielle), Amy Gillen, Stephanie McWilliams, Adrian Gillen and Dennis McWilliams, Jr. and great grandfather of Joseph, Jr., Leo, V, Ben, Owen, Sammy, Adriana and Juliana.
As a young man Bill attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Bill later went on to serve in the Navy on the USS Shipley Bay during WWII.
Bill was a member of Glendora VFW Post #8714 and a former member of Glendora Fire & Rescue Squad.
There will be a viewing from 7 to 9pm Thursday eve and 9:15 to 10:15am Friday morning at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE.
Funeral Mass 11am Friday at Holy Child Parish, St. Teresa's RC Church, Runnemede.
Interment New St. Mary's Cemetery, Bellmawr.
Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in Mr. Gillen's memory to St. Jude Children's Research, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
