Walter Fischer
May 30, 1919 - July 15, 2010

Walter "Jake", on July 15, 2010, of Runnemede, age 91.


Beloved husband of the late Helen "Mickie" (nee Grynkiewicz). Devoted father of Walter L. Fischer, Jr. of Audubon and Jacqueline Lee Bunch of Woodbury. Loving grandfather of Alexis Helene Bunch of Runnemede. Dear brother-in-law of Regina Karpiak of Haddon Heights. Loving uncle of 5 nieces and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews, 9 great great nieces and nephews and a great great great niece and nephew. Also survived by his dear friend and caregiver Sharon Dean and his faithful companion Eddie.


Walter served his country in World War II. He was a rifleman in the 4th Infantry Division, 8th Regiment in the Rhineland Campaign. He was captured in the Huertgen Forest, Germany, escaped from his camp and made his way back to the American lines. He was a past officer of Chapter 4 Camden County, Westmont DAV. Walter was a former president of Local 329 Boiler Maker's Union, Philadelphia and he was 1st in his class in Union Labor Relations at the University of Wisconsin. He and his wife, Helen, loved to travel and did so extensively when they were younger. He will be sadly missed.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Tuesday evening from 7pm to 9pm and Wednesday morning from 8:15am to 9:15am at GARDNER FUNERAL HOME, RUNNEMEDE. Funeral Mass 10am Wednesday at St. Teresa RC Church, Runnemede. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Chews Landing.
