Frances Eleanor Lewis, age 85 of Colfax, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Unity Point -Methodist in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. at the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax. Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Memorials may be directed to the Colfax Fire Department Association or the Colfax Historical Society and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com


The daughter of Robert and Hattie (Mills) Welch, Eleanor was born on November 1, 1934 in Colfax. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1952. On July 1, 1954, she was united in marriage to Charles Lewis. Eleanor enjoyed camping, flowers, and attending family gatherings. Her greatest joy, however, was when one of her children or grandchildren would walk through her door.

Those left to honor her memory include her children, Kenneth Lewis, Kevin (Beth) Lewis, and Kirk (Janet) Lewis; 24 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Charles; a daughter, Karla Lewis, a son Donald Wayne Lewis; a daughter-in-law, Sherri Lewis; a great grandson and her siblings.
