"David and I both attended College Community Schools & he graduated a year behind me in 1968, as I recall. We both learned to play acoustic guitars, and I remember eating ?grilled cheese sandwiches? out at his farmhouse. He only lived about 1/4 mile outside of Ely, Iowa; on the old family farmstead. Unfortuanely, his widowed Mom, was killed in a car crash before he graduated from High School. Couple of years later I moved him in my VW bug to Northeast Missouri State College (now Truman University), where he graduated?I ?think? with a degree in English. He even wrote some poetry as I recall. Several years later he came to visit my wife and I in Dubuque, Iowa, and later in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and then settled down for a while in Iowa City. Over the years, about once a year, he did come by to visit for a week, often staying over at our invitation for 3-4 days or even a week. In the last 10-15 years I didn?t see much of him, but heard he had moved to Welman or Kalona. During our visits I enjoyed visiting about the ?good ?ol days? in Ely, Iowa. RIP "
