Raymond Edward Silver, 80, of Geneva, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at his home in Geneva. He was born March 29, 1939, in rural Geneva, Iowa ,to Edward and Lena (Siems) Silver.
Raymond graduated from Geneva High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Moore on January 28, 1966, in Hampton. Raymond was a member of the Geneva United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being outside fishing, tinkering on several projects and mowing several properties for the city and of his own. Ray also loved going to his grandsons' sporting events where he could normally be found watching from a nearby shade tree. In his early years, he took care of Geneva as the Chief of Police and later on as a Councilman and Mayor. Raymond started driving gravel truck with his dad early on which led him to the Franklin County Highway Department for 55 years. He was very grateful for his career and the friendships he developed with his co-workers.
Raymond is survived by his son Lynn (Krista) Silver of Albion, son Kal (Jill) Silver of Iowa Falls, 5 grandchildren Cole, Clay, Caleb, Logan, and Lane, his older brother Bob Silver, and younger sisters Betty Gunderson, Lois Meyer, Lucille Ahlberg, Cindy Sanders, and Sharon Fistler.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lena, his wife Dorothy, friends, relatives and his beloved dogs.
Services will be held at a later date.
