Jerry Lee Johnson
February 1, 1950 - March 18, 2020

Jerry Lee Johnson, 70, of Baxter, Iowa passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2020. A private family funeral service will be held at Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care in Baxter, Iowa. Burial in Restland Cemetery in Baxter will follow and will also remain private.
Jerry was born on February 1, 1950 at his family home in Bussey, Iowa to Theodore and Betty (Green) Johnson. He attended country schools until middle school where he started attending Twin Cedar Schools. He graduated from Twin Cedars with the class of 1968. Following school, Jerry joined the Army. He was honorably medically discharged and returned home. He married the love of his life, Arla Hartz on August 29, 1970. Jerry began working for Maytag and he and Arla moved around Jasper County until settling into Baxter in 1977. They built a new house in Baxter in 1978 and raised they kids there together. He retired from Maytag as a NE Machining Supervisor in 2000. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Newton, UAW Local 997, and was a Baxter Boy Scouts Troop Leader. He loved spending time with his family, watching the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Kansas City Chiefs, building train sets, learning computer technology and training himself how to work on them, riding and collecting motorcycles.
Those left to cherish Jerry's loving memory are his wife Arla Johnson of Baxter, IA; children Lance (Sonya Brush) Johnson of Yuba City, CA, Jennifer (John) Calandra of North Port, FL, and Anna (Rhett) Farnum of Colo, IA; grandchildren Nicholas Johnson, Andrew Farnum, and William Farnum; siblings Thomas (Connie) Johnson, Sonjie Binns, Chris (Dave) Moody, Rodney (Denise) Kendall, Ted Johnson, Vicky Johnson, and Tammy Johnson; aunt Jean Bloom; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Glory Ann Six.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
Fredregill Funeral & Cremation Care has been entrusted with the care of Jerry and his family.
