In loving memory of

Joyce Elaine Steadham
January 16, 1948 - April 5, 2020

Joyce Elaine Steadham, age 72, passed away Sunday April 5, 2020 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. Joyce was born January 6, 1948, an only child to parents Harold and Dorothy (Talsma) Vande Kieft in Des Moines, Iowa. She grew up on the farm near Prairie City and was a farm girl through and through. She loved her animals and loved helping her dad on the farm. Joyce graduated from Pella Christian High School with the class of 1966. After graduating, she attended Iowa Lutheran College and graduated in 1969 with a degree in nursing. Joyce loved being a nurse. She worked and lived in several states including Iowa, New Mexico, Kansas, and North Dakota. In these states she was able to practice OB, Clinical, Adult & Child Psych and even worked in a correctional facility. Joyce married Roy Lynn Steadham in October 1970 and together they were blessed with three children: Sara, Jessica, and Matthew, and later divorced in 1991.
Joyce loved the mountains, so in 1993 she moved to Denver, Colorado. There she enjoyed hiking, sight-seeing, and exploring little mountain towns along the way. Going on trips with her girlfriends to Puerto Vallarta and Alaska were always a great time. She loved going to Denver Bronco, Nuggets, and Colorado Rockies games. Wearing purple, sipping coffee, reading a good book, and watching Fox News was always a must. Due to her health, Joyce was unable to attend her grandchildren's activities but always enjoyed hearing about them and visiting with them. Joyce loved her children and grandchildren; she will be missed. May she rest peacefully in God's arms with her parents.
Left to cherish her memory include her children Sara (Chris) Harris of Centennial, Colorado; Jessica (Tim) Aschinger of Lake View, Iowa; Matthew (Laura) Steadham of Lenexa, Kansas; grandchildren Blake Steadham of Centennial, Colorado; Jade Steadham of Chanute, Kansas; Ryan Bellcock of Lake View, Iowa; Jack Steadham of Lenexa, Kansas; and Reese Aschinger of Lake View, Iowa. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Dorothy Vande Kieft.
A private family graveside service will be held and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

"Joyce was a joy to take care of I would always tell her with this covid stuff that the nurses needed to run stuff and Id wink at her and we'd giggle together but she would agree with me. The nurses need to be in charge! Rose Bumsted"

"Another saint in glory! After Joyce moved back to Prairie City, it was always good to see her and her mom at church together. I enjoyed picking up Joyce for Coffee Break Bible study on Thursday mornings. Joyce really knew her Bible, loved the Lord and patiently depended upon Him. How she loved her children and grandkids, too! Deepest sympathy, Joanell McClellan "
