Hollis Lee Peeler, (68), departed this Earth Thursday, April 2, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Hollis was born March 13, 1952 to Julia Reeves and John Peeler Sr. in Koscuisko, Mississippi.
Hollis Lee Peeler graduated from Broad Ripple High School (Indianapolis, Indiana) in 1970.
There, he received honors in football, wrestling, basketball, and track. He married Getsy Althea
Price on August 12, 1989 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Hollis worked for Geuple Demars for many
years as a deliverer, up until their closing. Hollis continued full-time with his own landscaping
company that provided services throughout the Greater Indiana Area. He had a special love,
devotion, and passion for children. Forty years ago, he founded and created a Charitable Youth
Development Non-profit program, Peeler's Pals, that continues to aid children from single parent
homes, within Indiana. Peeler's Pals took children on monthly excursions, provided food
services/donations, back to school supplies and clothes. Every December, Peeler's Pals held a
special event, "Clothe a Child At Christmas," that provided clothing to children from single
parent homes. Every summer on the first Saturday of August, for 40 consecutive years, Hollis
gathered 20 volunteers to escort 100 children by bus, to Indiana Beach until their closing in
2019. In 2013, he received the "Heart of A Father" Award from the "Fathers and Family"
Company of Indianapolis, Indiana. Hollis was a devoted member of Oasis of Hope Baptist
Church where he attended every Sunday morning service.
Hollis is remembered for his jokes, making people laugh, and his love for cruises.
Hollis is preceded in death by (mom), Julia Dodd;
(father), John A. Peeler Sr.; (brother), John A. Peeler Jr. (Karen).
Hollis is survived by (wife);Getsy Peeler ; (daughters) Kim Peeler, Quana Peeler, AlVerti
Holland (Michael), (step-daughter) Kelli Price, and (step-son) James Price (Kela) ;
(sisters) Laura Clark(George), MarThelma Staley, Elizabeth Gary (Anthony); and a host of
nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and a great- grandchild.
