In loving memory of

Wanda D. Jazowski
October 25, 1925 - April 7, 2020

Wanda Jazowski, age 94, long-time resident of Harper Woods, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Wanda was born on October 25,1925 in Detroit, Michigan, and was the dear daughter of the late Frank and late Ceslawa (Miloszewski) Jazowski.

Wanda is preceded in death by her siblings: Chester (Dorothy) Jazowski; Stephanie (Herb) McComb; Henrietta Zentarski-Graye (Chester, Sylvester); and Alfred (Betty) Jazowski. She has (11) loving nieces/nephews, many great nieces/nephews, great-great nieces/nephews, and (1) great-great-great niece.

Wanda began working at J.L. Hudson Company wrapping Christmas presents when she was 16 years old, and did achieve the position as Executive Secretary for Joseph L. Hudson. She remained with the company as they went through a few years of merging/buyouts (Hudsons --> Dayton-Hudson --> Marshall Fields --> May Company --> Macy's), including job changes, all with optimism and a smile on her face and in her heart. With her cheerful disposition, kind heart, and concern for others, Wanda acquired dear friends throughout her 64 years with the Hudson Stores.

Wanda devoted her entire life, when she was young and until her final days, to selfless service for others. Volunteering was part of her essence, whether it was for her Catholic Parish, Polish Century Club, one of the Hudson "help" programs, or a Retirement activity assisting cancer patients. She was mindful, always putting the needs of others first. She was Gracious to everyone, Elegant in manners, Grateful for everyone and everything, Kind - never an unpleasant word spoken, Strong in her faith and Love for others. We, as her nieces and nephews, have been Blessed to share our lives with hers. We had so much more to learn.

Unfortunately, current events prevent us from gathering with everyone at this time. But we look forward with hope and faith to a day, to be announced in the near future, when we can come together to celebrate our loving and affectionate Aunt's Life.

Because of her deep love of children, the family suggests any donations you wish to make in her name, be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a children's charity of your choice.

Tributes

Michael Allison wrote on Nov 6, 2020:

"I learned yesterday (11-5-20) of Wanda's death in April. For many years, I was just behind Wanda at daily mass at St. Paul on the Lake in Grosse Pointe Farms. Wanda was there every day at 6:00 am for the Holy Rosary. I was able to see what a kind soul she has. Lately, Wanda had moved to Rochester, I believe. Claude and Ginger DiNatale kept close to her, as they had her number. The point of this is that she was very faithful to the Holy Rosary and the mass. What great tributes we can now see online. In those days, she would be later going to Southfield to go to work. What dedication to both the Church as well as JL Hudson and successor companies. We will miss her. Michael Allison"

"I received the Hudson's / Target Retiree Volunteer Association newsletter today and read the announcement of Wanda's passing with great sorrow. I am sure anyone reading this agrees with me - that we were lucky to have know Wanda Jazowski. I am thankful, even today, that our paths crossed in the late 1990's through the early 2000's when we worked together at Hudson's corporate offices on top of the Northland store in Southfield. Wanda's office was very near mine, and she gently hugged me every single day that I worked for Hudson's to make sure that each day started out on a positive note. Who could ask for a better corporate perk than to have a quiet champion for kindness working two cubicles away. I will always admire her gentle disposition, her delightful laugh, and the incredible knowledge / history she had with the company. I am fortunate to work in my job today (20 years later) with a number of former Hudson's team members who also worked with Wanda, and we regularly bring up fond memories of our time with her. Wanda - here's a "virtual" hug from me to you with thanks that our paths crossed. Know that I count you as one of the blessings of my life."

"My deepest sympathy to Wanda's family. Wanda was a dear friend of my mother, Virginia Wasung, from St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Detroit. I remember Miss Wanda as always being impeccably dressed and so very kind. I enjoyed seeing so many pictures of her in the memories. She was just as I remember, always a smile on her face and the sparkle in her eyes. May she rest in peace. "

Always warm and caring with a sparkle in her eye. We'd enjoy a chuckle at the coffee machine in the morning and always a goodbye and see you tomorrow in the evening. Wanda was an amazing human being and I hope to be more like her. Godspeed my dear friend."

"Wanda was one of the kindest, most hard working, and passionately dedicated people I had the fortune to meet and to work with. As Executive Secretary in the Hudson?s/Marshall Fields corporate offices at Northland, Wanda not only was a great partner for whichever division she was given the responsibility for (and there were many), but never hesitated to support anyone who needed the assistance of her vast knowledge throughout her career. It was a pleasure to be in her presence both on a professional and personal level, and I will cherish the memories of Wanda?s kind and loving smile. With deepest sympathy to her family and friends. May she Rest In Peace. Donna Stevens Director of Interior Design - Dayton-Hudson-Marshall Fields"

"My acquaintance with Wanda dates to the years during which she was Executive Secretary to the Director of the Studios of Interior Design in the Regional Offices of the company at Northland Center. She exemplified the best of 'The Greatest Generation' in devotion to her work which was always performed with the utmost professionalism. Impeccable in appearance and demeanor, she inspired those around her in any number of ways. After her retirement, and for a number of years thenceforth, we shared annual holiday season notes of greetings and best wishes. Wanda was particularly supportive of my career and personally kind to me. I shall always carry positive, heartfelt memories of dear Wanda. Rest in peace... Sincerely, Brian Clay Collins, F.A.S.I.D., Interior Designer"
