In loving memory of

Margaret Ellen Marcrander
April 10, 1943 - April 7, 2020

Margaret Ellen (Schulz) Marcrander passed away on Tuesday, April 7th as a result of Alzeheimer's disease that she had battled for years. Her husband Dave, daughters Kerry and Kristin, and son David, Jr were with her in her final moments.

Meg was born April 10th, 1943 in San Francisco, CA to Delbert & Evelyn Schulz. As the daughter of a Lutheran educator, organist and choir director she spent most of her youth moving around the Midwest, spending time in Iowa, Kansas, and Wisconsin. She graduated from Racine Lutheran High School in Racine, Wisconsin and Valparaiso University in Indiana. Upon graduation, she moved to St. Louis, MO where her parents were living and taught 3rd-4th grade. On New Year's Eve, 1964 she met David Marcrander at a party in St. Louis through a mutual friend. Upon Dave's graduation from the Air Force Academy in 1966, Meg & Dave married and moved to Sacramento, CA where they had twin daughters Kerry and Kristin. Dave's Air Force assignments took them to Puerto Rico, then Arizona where they had son David, Jr.

For the next 20+ years Meg moved around the US with Dave, including Tacoma, WA, as he took on new assignments. Meg quickly and easily set up each new home having experienced moving from place to place since she was a child. Meg was an active support on the military bases where they served and an energetic member of her church in each new location, teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir. During those years she also became a freelance writer for a Lutheran publishing company. Following Dave's retirement, they returned to the Northwest, settling in Sammamish, WA. Meg became the Director of Christian Education at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Bellevue, where she served in her dream job for 13 years before retiring in 2014.

As a wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and friend, Meg was known to be generous and loving, encouraging and supportive of those around her, and above all a teacher. Her faith shone in her care and love for others, and she took great pride in developing the spiritual lives of the members of St. Andrew's, particularly the children.

Meg is survived by her loving husband of nearly 54 years, Dave Marcrander of Bellevue; daughter Kerry (Marcrander) Price-Duffy of Seattle, Kristin (Marcrander) Frossmo of Seattle, son David Marcrander, Jr of Hudson, NY, along with their spouses and 5 grandchildren. She is also survived by her 3 siblings David Schulz of Middletown, CT, Ken Schulz of Bethel, CT, and Marilyn (Schulz) Gesch of Ventura, CA. She was preceded in death by both of her parents.

A memorial celebration of Meg's life will be held later this year, when family and friends are able to travel and attend. In lieu of flowers, the family would recommend donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Bellevue, WA.

"I'm thinking of all of you as you mourn Meg's death. I have many wonderful memories of times spent with her in high school, at Valpo, and later in our lives at our gals of '61 "slumber party reunions". I enjoyed being kept up to date with Meg and your family through the years and am thankful for her friendship and the fun filled times we had. I'm thanking God for her and praying God will bring you comfort at this difficult time. Kathy (Boerger) Bardenhagen Racine"

"Meg and I were really good friends in high school. So many memories of all the fun, like when her dad got a speeding ticket taking me home ! She was an integral part of our ?Lutheran High gals of 1961?and came to our June reunions when she could. I was blessed with time spent with Meg and Dave at our 50th reunion. I feel as if I know Kerry, Kristin, and David because of the newsy Christmas letters. Meg was a generous ,loving, talented, and faith filled woman. I am blessed to have known her . Prayers and love sent from Chicago . Marnie Smith"
