"Eileen and my mother were close friends. My mother Virginia Hutchinson passed away March 15. I did not know Eileen had passed til I went looking to try to find her. My sympathies to your family. "
Phoenix - Eileen Kale Crerand, 93 a resident of Phoenix, AZ passed away on April 11, 2020. Eileen was a wonderful, loving and devoted mother of 7 children, a wife, grandmother, and great grandmother, who will be missed deeply forever. Eileen was born in Trenton, NJ in 1926, graduated from Cathedral High School, and, after WWII, married Marine Corps veteran, Joseph E. Crerand, Sr. They started a family in Trenton, and after multiple US Steel work transfers, to Levittown, PA., Youngstown, OH, and Pittsburgh, PA, they retired in Arizona. Eileen always was busy doing something, mostly for her children and grandchildren. She also loved to listen to music, sing, travel, laugh, tell stories, cook, bake, sew, and made every birthday and holiday special. Yet, her true passion, aside from her family, was her faith. Eileen spent much of her life raising her children for which we are all so thankful. She made our house a home. Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, Sr., her son, Patrick, and her daughter, Kale Gruetzmacher. She is survived by her sons, Joseph Crerand, Jr. (Connie), Timothy Crerand, (Donna Boman), Donald (Rusty) Crerand, (Tammy), her daughters, Eileen Reilly, (Al) and Diane (Kelly) Crerand, (Thad LaMastres), and her daughter-in-law, Julie Lockwood (Jan). Her grandchildren include Stephen, Kevin, and Christopher Crerand, Joseph and James Guetzmacher, and Bo Calhoun. Her great grandchildren include Madeline, Mackenzie, Logan, Brennan Crerand, and Jaxson Gruetzmacher. Another person whom Eileen considered family is John Horan. Eileen also is survived by a devoted, lovingly attentive sister, Alice Miller, kind and loving brothers - Joseph Kale and William (Bill) Kale (Dorothy), and sister-in-law, Ellen Kale, all of NJ.
Due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, Eileen will have an immediate family only viewing at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary in Scottsdale AZ, on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, and a private burial on Friday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on North Cave Creek Road. A Mass and celebration of life will be held later. Please refrain from sending flowers and either have a Mass said in Eileen's memory or donate to Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health of Arizona or a charity of your choice. The family is very appreciative of your kindness, thoughts, and prayers. Eileen will be forever in our hearts.
