Kelly I. Van Meter
June 12, 1959 - April 20, 2020

Kelly I. Van Meter, age 60, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 20, 2020. Due to federal
and state guidelines for COVID-19, the family is holding a private graveside service at Ames
Municipal Cemetery.
Kelly was born in Ames on June 12, 1959, the son of Delmar and Jo Van Meter. He graduated
from Gilbert High School in 1977. He attended Iowa State University, where he earned a
Bachelor's degree in Finance. He was awarded an MBA in Finance, Investment, and Banking from the University of Wisconsin.
Kelly worked in Chicago as a Senior Managing Director for Guggenheim Partners. Prior to that,
he had worked at GE Capital, Chase Manhattan Bank, and Merrill Lynch.
Kelly loved blues guitar, the Chicago Cubs, and his dogs. He collected guitars, and enjoyed
watching the New England Patriots. Kelly lived in Ridgefield, Connecticut with his wife and
daughters, and enjoyed spending time in Vermont with family and friends.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Lauren Van Meter, daughters Madeleine Van Meter, and Jacqueline
Van Meter; his mother, Jo Van Meter; brothers Kevin (Pam) Van Meter and Kyle (Nancy) Van
Meter, and a sister, Kimberly Van Meter (Misha Goodman), as well as ten nieces and nephews
and two great-nephews.
