Margaret Henning, age 101, of Maxwell, Iowa, died Thursday, April 30, 2020, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will not be having a public memorial at this time.

Born June 28, 1918, in Maxwell, Iowa, Margaret Henning was the daughter of Ray and Pearle (Garlock) Ashba. She grew up and received her education in Maxwell and graduated from Maxwell High School. Margaret was united in marriage to Dean Kermit Henning. The couple farmed in the Maxwell area and was blessed with one son, Terry.

Margaret was a hard-working farm wife and mother. She helped in all aspects of the farming operation, including raising chickens and helping with the livestock, and took pride in her large garden. Her expertise in pie-baking was enjoyed and appreciated by family and friends.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Terry and Kathy Henning of Maxwell; three grandchildren, Chris (Jeff) Robinett of Maxwell, Joany (Rod) Jones of Maxwell, and Kevin (Liz) Henning of Lehigh; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; as well as other extended family members and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two sisters, Betty Hunter and Maxine Brisbois.

Ames Monument & Cremation Center has been entrusted with the care of Margaret and her family.
