S. E. Negus
June 2, 1935 - May 6, 2020

SuEllyn Eugenna (Stuart Eugene) Negus, 84, Omaha NE, passed into eternal rest at home surrounded by family on May 6, 2020.

S.E. was born on June 2, 1935 at Jenny Edmondson Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA to Calvin George Negus, Sr. and Eva Lucille (Epperson) Negus. S.E. joined older siblings Elizabeth Alice, and Calvin George, Jr. The family moved to Omaha where S.E. graduated from Omaha Tech High and afterward studied music for one year at Drake University, Des Moines, IA.

S.E. married Kay Nelson in 1954, and to this union five children were born; Stuart Andrew, Christopher Robin, Kirsten Joan, Jay Arthur, and Robert Dee. The family lived in Oklahoma and Texas before returning to Omaha.

S.E. married Ruth Ann Whittlesey on October 1, 1976. They raised two daughters, Cheryn Jeanne and Jodee Raye in the Greater Chicagoland area before retiring to Omaha, NE in 1998.

S.E. worked as a Premium Auditor for Royal Globe, Argonaut, and Hartford Insurance companies, as well as several small independent audit agencies. S.E. loved being in the outdoors, woodworking, leisure boating as a member of the U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, camping, and fishing, as well as bowling and spending time with family. S.E.'s true passion was music as an accomplished soloist and choir director; directing youth choirs, church choirs, and acting in numerous musical productions from high school until retirement. In retirement S.E. enjoyed membership in Vesta Chapter and Aksarben Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and attended Northwest Hills Church, UCC and Unity Church of Omaha.

S.E. was preceded in death by parents Calvin and Lucille, siblings Calvin Jr. and Elizabeth, and children Christopher Robin and Kirsten Joan.

S.E. is survived by wife Ruth Ann, sons Andrew, Jay, and Robert, daughters Cheryn (Rob) Lindley & grandchildren, Aidan, Owen, Cora; Jodee (Bradley) Mann, & grandchildren Kyle, Aaron, Tanner, Ryian; grandson Jon Scallan; great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A family memorial service will be announced at a later date.
