Joshua Lee Hovenga, 35, of Mason City, passed away May 6, 2020, at the MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa. He was born June 15, 1984, in Hampton, Iowa to Steven Roger Johnson and Sharon Lynn Hovenga.

Joshua attended school in Hampton and Charles City, graduating from Charles City High School. He worked at Smithfield Foods Mason City, Iowa. Joshua served his country in the United States Marines Corps.

Josh's passions always ran high, he loved hard and fast. His greatest accomplishment and love was his daughter Emma. He was always cheerful, witty, and loved to playfully tease to get a rise out of anyone. Josh always had the biggest spot in his heart for his family and never failed to show them his love for them. Josh especially loved babies and little kids since he got to play and conspire against their parents with them for fun. He loved to golf, being outdoors, fishing, and attending wrestling events. Josh was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Minnesota Vikings fan. His dog, Ike, was his best friend. If you were a stranger to Josh, he spared no expense in showing you comfort with friendship and laughter.
