Christopher Allen Machlan
June 16, 1998 - May 13, 2020

Christopher Allen Machlan, age 21, of Columbia City, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born June 16, 1998 in Columbia City, Indiana, he was the son of Philip and Heather(Lemley) Machlan.

Chris grew up at Tri-Lakes. He graduated Columbia City High School with the Class of 2016. Chris worked for Forrest River Trailer Factory after high school. He loved playing poker with his family, listening to music, being outdoors trapping, camping and fishing. Chris was outgoing and had a positive attitude with an ornery side and he found joy on picking on his older brother.

He is survived by his mother, Heather Machlan; brother, Michael (Amanda) Machlan; grandmother, Michele Lemley; and aunts and uncles, Tami Machlan, Kenny Lemley, George Lemley and Gary (Brittney Chaney) Lemley. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Kay Machlan in 2007; grandparents, Miles and Donna Machlan, and Ken Lemley, Jr.; and uncle, Nick Lemley.

Although Chris deserved so much more, due to the social distancing requirements in place, extended family and friends may pay their final respects to him and his family by a drive through viewing under the portico at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City on Monday, May 18, 2020 from 11 until 1 p.m. All people paying their respects are asked to remain in their cars at all times while in line in the funeral home parking lot. A private funeral for his immediate family will be held and he will be laid to rest at St. Matthew's Cemetery beside his father. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made toward his final expenses, in care of DeMoney-Grimes.
