Patricia Anne Sohasky

December 17, 1934 - May 17, 2020

Muskegon

We are sad and heartbroken to share the news of our mom's passing. Pat Sohasky was 85 years old and lived the last several months in Christian Care Assisted Living under the care of Harbor Hospice in Muskegon. Our mom was a longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. She continued being very social, spunky, and spirited until the last couple weeks when she and the Lord decided it was time for a long rest.

Our mom was born in Norwich, New York to Frank and Ruby Wingate. She and our dad were married 57 years before he passed away in 2008. They enjoyed spending time with all of our family and friends, taking their yearly trip to Florida, golfing and socializing with their Manhattan Club friends, and attending as many polka festivals as possible. She retired from JC Penney after working for over 20 years and also loved playing cards and dominos with her friends.

Pat leaves behind 6 daughters, Cathy (John) Vanderlaan, Chris (Johnny) Johnson, Connie Sohasky, Cindy (Bill) Wilhelm, Carolyn (Steve) Kutches, Colleen (Shawn) Butler, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. She also will be missed by her brother David (Nancy) Wingate and will surely meet up with her brother Frank, who passed away 4 years ago.

The family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Harbor Hospice in Muskegon in memory of our mom. Due to Covid-19, a private family service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery. Please visit www.clockfuneralhome.com to leave a memory or sign the on-line guestbook.

We don't know where we would be without her teaching us how to cook, or how to throw one heck of a party! We know she is with our dad, catching up on the last 12 years, and celebrating being together once again. Mom we love you and will miss you.

"My heart goes out to all 6 of you girls & your families. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you. I worked at J C Penny right out of high school & then I met Anna Bananna at work & your mom was our boss. Your Mother was one of a kind, who took me in under her wings. Especially when I loss my husband Don, she was there for me every step of the way, guiding me & giving me direction, & pushed for me to grow on my own. I was scared but she didn't give up on me & I thanked God for her. She was pushy at times & I would get mad, but she was one of my guarding angel here on earth. May your Mom Pat rest in peace now that she is with your dad, she's probably dancing away. I love her & she will be sadly missed. Peace to all of you. Debbie Sandin"

"We were so sorry to learn of the passing of the woman known to many as simply "Nanny" (nah-knee). She was one-of-a-kind and instilled values in her six daughters rarely seen today. In addition she was one fantastic cook and she sure knew her Polish food. Our friend Danny Nowicki is a true Polish food expert and he proclaimed her "Pigs in a Blanket" (stuffed cabbage) to be the best he ever had except for maybe his own mother's! It was our privilege and pleasure to know her these past twelve years or so and we will miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her extended family during this difficult time. Rest in Peace."

Anna Bartee Hanks wrote on May 19, 2020:

"I am so sad to here this. I met Pat in 1973 when i got a job a job at JCPenney. I had just got divorced and times were tough. Pat took me under her wing and made a huge difference in my life. She was often very blunt in what she said but it was all stuff I needed. She called me Anna-banana. She treated me and my little daughter, April like we were her kids I didn't have a babysitter for a week. She said just bring her to work. My daughter played at the return desk or Pat would take her off to visit everyone or to the Cafeteria for too many sweets. She was a Mom to me those years. Later in life she would call me to get the gossip. LOL. Please accept my condolence and thank you for sharing your Mom. w"

"I?m sorry for your families loss, especially during this challenging time. Your mom was one in a million. She commanded a room like no other. You knew she was there. You also always knew where you stood with her because she didn?t mince her words. She told it like it was. She was a good friend to both my mom and dad. I enjoyed knowing her as an adult myself. May your faith give you peace and comfort. "

Denise & Ron Crawford wrote on May 19, 2020:

"Cindy, Bill, Lacey and all the CMs and family - We have fond memories of your Mom. Pat also shared her love of entertaining & cooking with us. There aren't many who could boast of having TWO kitchens - I still make her Stuffed Mushrooms and Tortilla Roll-Ups and will always remember her as I do so. She gave great hugs and she had a contagious laugh. May her memory live on in each of you. May she rest in peace although I know she is probably polka dancing with her Eddie. Much love - Denise & Ron Crawford and family"
