With Eric badly injured, You ran half a mile with me, To try to get to see him Before the chopper flew away. You were always right there for me Whenever I would call. To talk about important things Or of nothing much at all. Your strength and your resolve amaze; Your ability to thrive. I hope I?ve received just half of that And to that end I?ll strive. Although we?ll miss you greatly Not just today, but for long while, To know you?re back with Daddy Is one thing that makes me smile. November 13, 1928 - May 11, 2020
Lois Ann Watson, most recently of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at the age of 91, due to cardiac arrest.
Lois was the oldest of five children born to Wilfred and Winifred Hillebrand. She attended grade school at St. Clare of Montefalco in Grosse Pointe Park, and graduated from Dominican High School in Detroit in 1946.
She married Gerald Watson in 1950 and together they raised seven children in the Tudor home on Bishop Rd, in Grosse Pointe Park, built by Jerry's maternal grandfather, Francis Beaupre. Lois did the bookkeeping, payroll and banking for the full-service gas station she and Jerry owned for over 30 years...Watson's Pointe Service, located on the corner of Mack and Neff in Grosse Pointe City.
In the mid 1980's, Lois and Jerry moved to St. Augustine, Florida where they lived for 23 years before returning to St. Clair Shores, Michigan in 2007. She worked at The Christmas Shop in downtown St. Augustine for a few years, where she was easily able to add to her growing Hummel collection. This is also where she began her love for the Minnetonka moccasins, which became her shoe of choice for the remainder of her years!
Lois is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Watson, daughter Kathy (Tom) Dunstan, son Michael Watson, and brothers Roy and Tom (Inge) Hillebrand.
She is survived by sisters, Audrey (Jack) Lemieux, and Donna (Jack) Hill;
Children - Patti (Ted) Schollenberger, Janet (Dan) Drekich, Dick (Irene) Watson, Dave (Nancy) Watson and Diane (Eric) Smith;
Twelve grandchildren - Hayley (Chris) Kirby, Heath (Lauren) Schollenberger, Katie (Jason) Chapman, Bridget (Cody) D'Angelo, Dani (Dan) McGarry, Jack Drekich, Richie Watson, Jerry Watson, Willie Watson, Samantha Watson, Derek (Jeanette) Watson, and Vaughn (Kaila) Smith;
And eleven great-grandchildren - Aidan, Daphne, and Finn Kirby, Lennon and Carver Schollenberger, Charlotte and Sophia Watson, Christina and Chase Watson, and Lane and Calleigh Smith.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are being handled by Verheyden Funeral Home. There will be a Celebration of Life scheduled at a later date.
Mom, we love you very much and will miss you even more, but we know that you are happy having been reunited with Dad, Michael and Kathy. Because we know that you will still worry about all of us from Heaven, we want to assure you "we're fine"!
