"Gene was a WONDERFUL man and very good friend. We all just found out today and are all devastated. Gene was definitely one of a kind. Gene was warm, honest, gregarious and had great style! He will be sadly missed. My prayers are with the family. Linda Shooter, friend from the Hilton."

"We all didn't know until today! What happened to our friend/boss/co-worker?"

Dean Fender wrote on Jun 4, 2020:

"Gene was my best friend in high school. He lived across Hwy 34 from our farm when his parents Virgil and Gerti were custodians at Nishna Valley Junior - Senior High School. The last time I talked with Gene was in 1982. I was stationed in Omaha as a recruiter on 72nd and Dodge. He applied to Air Force Officer Training after he graduated from college but was passed over. After that we lost contact. He and his parents made a huge impact on my life during highschool and especially during my parents messy divorce. I have thought of Gene, Virgil and Gerti often. I sincerely hope he had a great life."
