Verna L. Anderson, 90, of Fort Dodge passed away Saturday, May 30, 2020 at the Villa Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, June 5, 2020 at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Entombment will be in North Lawn Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. A visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
Verna is survived by her children, Pamela Johnson of The Villages, FL, Daniel Anderson of Des Moines, Candace Dunlap of Bondurant, Rebecca Jones of Fort Dodge; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Schmins of Overland Park, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Agnes (Carlson) McFarland; husband Joseph Anderson in 2009; brothers, Axel, Orville, Cecil, and Lorrel McFarland; and sisters, Verla June, Viola Johnson, Leone Worrel, Melva Swedburg, Hazel Cunningham, and Cecelia Weber; grandchildren, Jennifer Jo and Jacquelynn Delaine and great granddaughter, Thea Jo Makenzie
Verna Louise Anderson was born January 14, 1930 in Webster City. She lived most of her life in the Fort Dodge community. On November 8, 1946 she was united in marriage to Joseph Anderson. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Verna was a machinist with Meade Containers and worked there for over 22 years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of Northfield Church of Christ. She also was a union member and belonged to the VFW.
