Ronald J. Westendorf
January 14, 1943 - June 14, 2020

Ronald J. Westendorf, 77, of Allison, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2020, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison. He was born on January 14, 1943, to Ben B. and Isabelle (DeBower) Westendorf.

Ronald graduated from Allison High School. He was united in marriage to Beverly Jean Christians on April 14, 1967, in Bristow. To this union three children were born: Rebecca, Robert and Ryan.

Ronald was a farmer and was known as the chicken farmer. While farming, he also worked various jobs including as a deliverer for Allison Propane, as an electrician for Tasco, and a deliverer for Waterloo Courier and Priority Express.

Ronald was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Allison. He was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, where he was active with the church council, as well as the church choir.

Ronald enjoyed tinkering, he had a great sense of humor, he enjoyed telling jokes, and loved music and singing. Family was the most important to Ronald. He cared for them and loved them dearly.

Ronald is survived by his daughter Rebecca Jean Coffin of Des Moines, son Robert James and wife Carol Westendorf of Radcliffe, son Ryan Jason Westendorf of Troy, Ohio, grandchildren Joseph and Jason Coffin, Samantha (Malieck) Lee, Pamela Westendorf and Benjamin (fiancé Megan Carr) Westendorf, along with numerous cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and all of their families. He is also survived by his special friend Susan Myers of Parkersburg.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Isabelle, wife Beverly, and brother Wayne Westendorf.


Memorial contributions may be directed to the "Westendorf Children" who plan to memorialize their father with memorial pavers on the Butler County Fairgrounds and at Cedar Valley DeVita Center of Waverly.


Due to COVID-19, social distancing should be maintained during the visitation and at the funeral service. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the Allison Cemetery. Family and friends should bring a chair. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Allison.
