Entrepreneur, Community Activist, Educator, Mentor ~ just a few words to describe the passions of Alonzo Palmer, a native Detroiter who loved his family, friends and his city.
A life that touches others, goes on forever
Beloved husband of Constance, Cherished brother of Karen, Herbert (Kasandra), Genel (Larry), Sisters in law, Liz, Debbie (Sherman). Dearly missed by nephews and nieces; Errin (Lauren), Brent, Adam (Shawnese), Shannon, Sherman, Rachel, David, Leah and great-niece, Levi. Loved by aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and lifelong friends.
Alonzo was predeceased by his parents, Herbert Sr. and Mary Palmer and his brother, Terence.
Always the philosophical thinker, one of his last text messages to his wife was an African proverb:
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning, a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter if you are a lion or a gazelle, when the sun comes up, you better start running!
A memorial gathering will take place Monday, September 28, 2020, 11 am at Elmwood Cemetery, 1200 Elmwood Street, Detroit, MI 48207.
Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words
and missed beyond measure.
