Neil E. Shepley, age 88 died on Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Condolences may be left at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com


The son of Arthur Edward and Ruth V. (Aebli) Shepley, Neil was born on March 1, 1932 in Arkansas. In 1949 he left high school to join the United States Army. He served in the Korean War special unit Airborne Screaming Eagles. Following his military service, He married Paula Walker in September of 1954. Neil worked at Iowa Power, as a line man for 43 years. He was a member of the Monroe American Legion.

Neil is survived by a son Chris, Des Moines; daughter Kelsie (Scott) Brown, Newton; 8 grandchildren; a brother, Delbert (Judy) Shepley; two sisters, Delores Nichols and Helen Smith all from Colfax and a very special longtime friend Betty Christy of Monroe. Preceding Neil in death were his parents, bothers Laurel, Blaine and Dale and sisters, Iris Stier and Gladys Shepley.
