In loving memory of

Rood Eliger VanderMolen
November 29, 2020 - May 28, 2020

Rood Eliger VanderMolen Born 11/29/1943. He went to his eternal rest in heaven 5/28/2020. He was quiet, yet his presence was known as he picked on you, hugged you, stole your ring, bit you with his teeth in his hand or just popped his teeth out at you. He passed out candy at church and held all the babies. He would call and sell ya a car he didn't own or tell ya about the boat, bird or geco he just saw outside. He was peaceful and never complained. He only raised his voice at us if we were cussing or mouthin off. Once us girls were married we weren't allowed to run home in a fight. We got told to straighten up. He didn't like anyone being angry with each other. He never fueled the flame. He would listen and not say a word.

His faith was strong not in word but in deed! His actions spoke louder than his words!! I saw him many times walk up to someone and slip them money. I have no idea how much, but it was what God told him in his heart to do. We weren't rich by any means but we always had enough!! He was a faithful husband, father, worker, friend. He would call people and make sure they were caught up on the weather for where he was and what car just drove past. He just liked to let you know, you were on his mind with a little ring.

He was preceded in death by His wife Donna Marie VanderMolen (Slate); mother Markita VanderMolen (Vaughan) ; father Andrew VanderMolen; sister Corabel Glassnor (VanderMolen); brother in laws Martin Knuppenburg, Frank Glassnor and Tomas Slate; nieces Debbie Peterson, Theresa Carranza (Knuppenburg) and other Aunt's, Uncles, Cousins, friends and in-laws.

He was Married to Donna M. VanderMolen for 43 years and worked at Joe's Auto Parts in Spring Lake MI for 51 years. He was a faithful member of Norton Shores Assembly of God Church - since renamed as River of Life for about 53 years. When his wife passed, he moved to Chippewa Lake where he worked at East Bay General Store. He was a member of Chippewa Lake Community Church under Rev. Roger Bennett, who spoke at his Celebration of Life, a small family gathering held on 6/6/20.

He met Irene Kane (Richardson) in Chippewa Lake, following the passing of her husband of 46 year, Gary Kane.
Irene changed Rood's name to Rudy, lol all the people in Chippewa Lake called him Rudy it was sweet! They became engaged and loved each other, cherished each other's loved ones that had gone on before and welcomed each other's families of their own. Irene and Dad took care of each other very well!!
