Douglas "Doug" John Knuth was born on July 8, 1948, in Tracy, Minnesota to the late John and Patricia (West) Knuth. He was baptized at a young age and later confirmed in the Catholic faith. Doug received his education at the Catholic School in Tracy where he graduated in the Class of 1966. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and was honorably discharged in 1968. On June 29, 2008, Doug suffered a head injury due to a fall from a horse and was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis where he passed away on July 7, 2008 at the age of 59.
Doug will be remembered for many things in life including his enjoyment of Quarter horses, target shooting, hunting, gardening, landscaping, helping others, and most of all enjoyed being with his grandchildren.
Doug is survived by three daughters, Kelly Knuth of Windom, Tara Kalash of Fairmont, and Ashley Knuth of Heron Lake; five grandchildren, Keaton Leopold, Savannah Kalash, Priscilla Kalash, Weston Freking, and Seven Marcy; seven siblings, John Knuth and his wife, Rose of Brooklyn Park, Jeff Knuth of Marshall, Sue and her husband, Jeff Ackerman of Maple Grove, Katie Koehler of Shoreview, Jerry and her husband, Dave Hubel of Montevideo, Joey and her husband, Loren Pihl of Gary, SD, and Lulu and her husband, Jose Velasco of Brainerd.

"I'm sorry to hear about Doug. I first met Doug when my brother Frank and I worked for Doug Stemm at Coast to Coast hardware. He always had that hat on and a smile. He would come in to usually purchase some kind of masonary tool or a new level. Doug Stemm sold marshalltown tools which he liked as I recall. Then I later worked at Windom Ready Mix and drove truck delivering many loads of redimix for Doug. He always had something kind to say and appreciated the service. He was a good mason. I'm sure he will be missed terribly. I haven't seen him for years as I've moved out of the area in 91 but have good memories of him.

it wasn't too long ago i drove past the old place and it seemed weird that it was a statefarm office...that's because i thought about all the fun times and memories we had there...one being of your dad always being outside either working or enjoying the outdoors and greeting me with a smile...i'd either have to ask "is tara home?" or he'd smile and say "she's in there"
although i haven't seen him in sometime...it seems like yesterday

"TARA,KELLY,ASHLEY:
We were Heartbroken to hear of the passing of your father.
He had a special place in our lives, he played a big roll in Jennifers life as she was growing up with you, Tara, Always at each others house, I know that he got the same theatical plays as we did. It was always nice to see Doug around Windom, working his talents with stone and brick, and always with his trademark well loved cowboy hat, which he would panic when the brim came unsewn, and waited by the sewing machine for it to be stiched.
He love all his girls, and they loved him.
He will be missed.
Peace be with you, in this difficult time.
