March 30, 1933 - June 18, 2020

William E. "Bill" St. John, age 87 of Monroe, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Graveside funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery east of Monroe. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, from 1:00 - 2:30 at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Memorials may be directed to the Monroe Ambulance or the Monroe American Legion Post 363. The son of William R. And Wava (Burns) St. John, Bill was born on March 30, 1933 in Unionville, Missouri. Bill was united in marriage to Sherry Wood on July 3, 1971 in Fayettesville, Missouri. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for several companies, retiring in 1996. Bill proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War with the 187th ARCT 11th Airborne Division. He was a member of the Monroe American Legion Post 363 and the Jasper County Korean Veterans Association.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sherry; children, Glenda Turner, Dub (Pam) St. John, Brett St. John and Jamie (Lisa) St. John; 10 grandchildren; many great grandchildren and his beloved dog Molly. Also surviving are his siblings, Ron (Mary Jo) St. John and Marietta Medlin and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Bill in death were his father, mother, step father, two brothers, Bob and Neal, a sister, Carol and a son-in-law, Darrell Turner.
