In loving memory of

Jerome Joel Linsey
December 21, 1946 - June 15, 2020

Jerome J. Linsey D.D.S. passed away Monday, June 15th 2020 after a long and difficult battle with Parkinsons and Lewy Body Dementia. He is survived by his loving wife Shelley, sons, David (wife Lauren) and Randy, and his daughter Robin (husband Paul) Lafata. He has four wonderful grandchildren: Devin and Reese Lafata and Elise and Jake Linsey. He was adored by his children and grandchildren, who were the lights of his life and of who he was so proud. Jerry is also survived by his sister Elaine Levy ( husband Bruce) and his brother Mark Linsey (wife Linda ). He will be buried in his hometown Jacksonville, Florida on Friday, June 19th. Jerry graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1972, married Shelley Newman and went into the army at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas upon his graduation. After two years in the army he and Shelley moved to Houston, Texas where he opened a dental practice and subsequently practiced for 48 years. In High School, Jerry was active in Young Judea and was President of the Young Judea Southern Region. He was also President of the Greater Houston Dental Society. Jerry and Shelley did a great deal of traveling all over Europe in their early years before children. When David, Robin, and Randy arrived he loved taking them camping, to Jacksonville Beach in the summers, hiking, visiting National Parks, and various cities throughout the US. He enjoyed getting together with family and friends, and spending time flying his Estes model rockets and R/C planes. Fifteen years ago, Jerry was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. He fought with an interminable spirit and never let his disease define him. He never gave up. Sadly, he lost that battle this past week. Jerry will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Donations in Jerry's memory may be made to HAPS-Houston Area Parkinson's Society or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. We would like to thank HAPS for all the support and kindness they showed our family, as well as BakerRipley. We would also like to thank Silverado Herman Park and their wonderful caregivers for providing a safe and loving environment for Jerry to spend his final months.
