"To my sweet sister, When I was a little boy I used to call you sissy, I?m not sure why I called you that but I think it?s because we formed a special bond from the very beginning. You truly had so many great traits. You were giving, loving, and you always had such an upbeat personality. You always loved to sing off-key and you loved to dance, dancing was your favorite. We had so many good times together and these memories I shared with you will last for a lifetime. The best trait that you had was being such a loving grandmother to your grandchildren. You always had such a big smile on your face when you were around them. I could truly tell that being around them was the best part of your life. I lost a big piece of my heart when I lost you, but I do know that you will always be watching over us. You were so strong and brave through your fight and that is something I will always admire, you were such a fighter. Right now I don?t believe that this will ever get any easier. Many people say grief never goes away, but that it becomes more numb and dull over time which allows us to move on more easily. Only time will tell. I?ll miss you Kay. Love, your favorite brother."

"Shawn & Sylvia Aunt Karen was such a loving and caring, who gave her all in everything she did. She never had the word "Quit" in her and that's something my pop pop taught her. You're singing at family parties, dancing with everyone, and also can't forget the aforementioned brownies! Will forever be missed. We love you!"

"Due to current events I was one of the only people allowed to visit Aunt Karen on her last stay in the hospital. I can tell you that she remained the same person we loved. She was funny, emotional, and realistic. She maintained her dignity at all times. I was able to bring Aunt Karen a milkshake while she was in the hospital. It?s the fastest I seen someone drink a milkshake in a long time. In our final conversation she told me she took comfort in the thought of her Mom welcoming her to heaven. I know Grandmom was waiting for you Aunt Karen. We will miss you and your love will carry on through us. Tim & Jessica McShane. "

MAY YOUR HEARTS BE FILLED WITH WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF THE TIME YOU SPENT TOGETHER WITH Karen YOU REFLECT ON A LIFE WELL SPENT AT ISAIAH; 25;8 HE WILL SWALLOW UP DEATH FOREVER, AND THE SOVEREIGH LORD JEHOVAH WILL WIPE AWAY THE TEARS FROM ALL FACES. THE REPROACH OF HIS PEOPLE HE WILL TAKE AWAY FROM ALL THE EARTH FOR JEHOVAH HIMSELF HAS SPOKEN IT."

"Audrey Mcshane the brownies..lol. She would say I followed the directions I don?t know what I did wrong. Haha. Loved hearing the stories about how she would take your clothes and then something would happen to them. A cigarette burn even though she didn?t smoke (haha) or a stain that she would hide from you. How she sat with you when you would come home from dates with dad. She was so funny and clumbsy. Aunt Karen you were such a beacon of Strength. The way you took care of your family and always made sure they had what they needed, And how you handled your diagnosis with grace and fought hard till the end. I?m proud to have been your goddaughter. I can?t tell you how many times my mom compared me to you when i did some of the same things you used to do. I?ll miss you terribly. Take care of all of us. ????"

"Audrey McShane With a sad heart I had to say goodbye to my sister and Best Friend. We had a lifetime of good times and memories together. You truly were a beautiful and sweet person and you sure loved to dance. I was so amazed at the strength you fought your disease and never complained and you fought to the end. I will miss you but will smile because we now have a sweet Angel to look after us. Darn I will miss those rock hard brownies you made."

Danielle Bria (Vitali) wrote on Jun 25, 2020:

"I am so saddened to learn about Karen?s passing. Although I have not seen her in several years, I used to think of her as a second mother to me. I thought about her many times over the years and hoped that she was doing well. Although it?s been a while, I can absolutely attest to her love of singing, especially off tune. And when she did that, she had a smile and a laugh that you couldn?t help but smile and laugh right back. And then also sing along, off tune. And I may not have not seen her around her grandchildren, but I remember what an unbreakable bond she had with her kids, especially her only daughter Colleen. What a dynamic (and hilarious) duo! She was always so proud of all her kids. I don?t like to use the term rest in peace, so I will see you see you later, Karen! ?"

"In 1954, I was 4 years old and Karen was 5. It was very dark, just before what appeared to be a rain storm coming. We were riding Tricycles on Washington Terrace in Audubon. We both were yelling, ?I wish it would rain?. And it did - but it was the beginning of Hurricane Hazel, the deadliest Hurricane at that time - Both Karen and I thought we were who caused that Hurricane. We were only 4 and 5. Almost 66 years ago. RIP COUSIN. DENNIS"
