In loving memory of

Patricia D. Ballock
July 29, 1948 - June 20, 2020

Patricia Lacotta Ballock passed away at home in Avon, Indiana, on June 20, 2020, at the age of 71.
She was wise, compassionate, and loved by all who knew her.

She grew up primarily in Portage and Chesterton, Indiana, also spending 25 years with her husband in Birmingham, Alabama, where she was a nurse, then worked in corporate offices for medical firms. She tenaciously put herself through nursing school at Purdue while working as a waitress and raising two children. She advanced in the corporate world, sometimes overseeing a support staff. She was determined to succeed in whatever she did, but never losing her humanity and compassion for others. We will miss her humor, her concern for others, her sage advice, and her compassion.

She survived by her husband of 52 years, Tom; her son Scott; her daughter Christine, and five grandchildren.

Tributes

Tom Ballock wrote on Jul 11, 2020:

"A story of how Patti cared for others: When she was a nurse in an Alabama hospital, a family from Mississippi drove to Birmingham so their daughter could have out-patient surgery. The surgery went bad (the doctor apparently did something wrong) and the girl was scheduled for follow-up surgery the next day. Patti learned the parents did not have enough money to pay for a hotel room, and they planned to sleep in their car that night. Patti contacted hospital administration and got them to pay for a hotel room for the girl's family. Patti always cared about others. "
