Florine Gibson
October 6, 1926 - June 24, 2020

Florine (Page) Gibson was born October 6, 1926 in Oceola, Arkansas, the late Doc and Lula Page. She was the middle of three children.

Florine accepted Christ at an early age and she received her education through the Arkansas Public School System. In 1942, Florine met and married Cornelius Turk and they had 2 children through this union, Wanda Lee McAllister and Mary Jean Levingston. In 1952, Florine packed her bags and headed North, to Detroit, Michigan. Once she arrived, she gained employment through A.S. Laundry, until she retired.

In 1972, Florine met the love of her life, Gatson Gibson, and soon after on November 3, 1973, the two of them were married, in which she gained four step-children, Theresa Bolton (Anthony), Latonya Michelle Kelly, John Gatson Kelly and Natasha Clayton (Steele).

Florine enjoyed traveling every chance she could. She was a very active member of her church for many years. Hobbies she enjoyed included doing were puzzles, sewing, fishing and her dogs. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and telling them stories about life in her younger days.

Proceeding her in death, her husband, Gatson Gibson; Wanda Lee McAllister (daughter), Eula Beverly (sister), EuGene Page (brother) and two grandsons: Timothy Houston Sr. and Arnold McAllister.

She leaves to cherish in her memory her daughter, Mary Jean Levingston (Roosevelt), eight grand-children, Walter Houston (Gregory), Dwight Houston (Gertistine), Dwayne Houston (Jackie), Jeanette Simmons (Ronald), Dawn Houston (Lorenzo), Kim Jackson (Roger), Joyce Houston, and Aaron McAllister. Thirty-three great-grandchildren and over one hundred great great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends who loved her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 3, 2020 from 11:00am-1:00pm at Chas. Verheyden-Schultz Chapel, 21705 Gratiot, Eastpointe, MI. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, visitation is limited to 10 people at a time. Face masks/covers are required. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Clinton Township, MI.
