In loving memory of

Jeremy Rafalko
April 24, 1980 - June 28, 2020

On Sunday June 28, 2020, Jeremy Alan Rafalko passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in Des Moines, IA.

Jeremy was born April 24, 1980, in Royal Oak, MI. He studied engineering at the University of Michigan before beginning a career in financial services technology, most recently with Wells Fargo. He was respected by all for his superior intellect and passion for excellence.

Jeremy's other passions were his miniature schnauzers, Oliver and Ida Mae, who were his constant companions and spending time talking with his beloved mother. He will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and the "Jeremy" smirk.

Jeremy is survived by his mother Joyce, father Jerry (Diane), sister Jamie (Derek), and niece Destiny.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport of De Soto, Iowa or your favorite pet rescue.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.

He was that friend you could count on to be there for a late night dessert when you were stressing, for a laugh everyone you needed it, and he was the friend you could count on to break out I to song with you, when know one else understood. He was a involved in so many of the moments that helped shape my life and my path. I am heartbroken that he is gone. He will be sorely missed. I know that heaven just gained an amazing new soul."

"Uncle Jerry, Aunt Joyce, Jamie & Destiny - as well as Aunt Diane, and Derek: Obviously there are no words which could be spoken, uttered or whispered right now that could ease the loss of Jeremy. I wasn't fortunate enough to see him much as we all became adults, but I was fortunate enough to see him when we were both younger. I knew back then he had a bit of an old soul, but not too old of a soul to still be full of fun, and full of love. I'm beyond sorry for losing such an insatiable spirit! I love (AND MISS) each of you! Renee' "

"Jeremy, you were a rare light. You were one of the first people I ever knew who acknowledged it was okay to care, to feel, to empathize, to be exactly who you are. In school, you taught a lot of immature kids what it was like to show strength and kindness. You led by example. You were funny, genuine, charming, and you had those darn eyes that let you get away with anything. It was an honor to be your friend. I won?t ever forget you. I never have."

Aruna wrote on Jul 2, 2020:

"Jeremy, you were such an amazing person to work with. Your positive attitude , calm nature and ability to help others made you such a great person to work with. I remember just the other day celebrating your birthday on the phone. Even though it was your birthday and you were off you joined the call to help us. You will be deeply missed by the entire team."

"I wasn?t sure how I felt about posting about this but I have decided that I want to. On Sunday June 28th I lost my uncle. He was an amazing person who brought light into a lot of peoples lives. He is one of the smartest and funniest people I know. We shared a love for many things like music, dance, Harry Potter, and word games. I will miss your many jokes you would say during these games. I will miss your well known laugh and smirk. I will miss everything about you that made you the wonderful uncle you were. I am so incredibly grateful for the memories I was able to make with you. I will never forget when we sang love shack on the karaoke machine together. I will never forget when we went on drives in your convertible. I will never forget how much you loved Christmas and being able to use glitter for everything. There are not enough words and there will never be enough time to express how much I love and care for you. Even though you are not here on earth with me you are still in my heart and by my side every single day. Supporting me throughout my struggles and watching me fulfill the dreams we talked about. I will always love you and I will never stop missing you. ??"

We would spend so much time together and he really helped me to grow as a person, he helped me to feel confident and like I could conquer anything. "I only recently began working with Jeremy, however, he quickly became one of my favorite people at Wells. He was helpful, caring, and amazingly quick-witted and funny. It's not often you run into your humor soul-mate during a pandemic, but alas I am fortunate to have met someone who made me belly laugh even when discussing the most mundane and dry topics. I will miss him dearly and am sorry, to every one of his family and friends, for your loss. "

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. The world lost a light and I?m so heartbroken. Xoxo LeAnne "

"I am truly saddened to hear of this news. I had the pleasure to work with Jeremy for a number of years. While I only met him in person once in all that time, his intellect, abilities, personality, laugh, wit, and humor came through the many phone calls and other modes of communications we shared. Whether it was work related or personal, I can honestly say that I am a better and more informed person due to the relationship I had with him. You will truly be missed, my friend... Steve Domine"

"I had the pleasure of working with Jeremy over the last several years and I am terribly saddened by his passing. I learned something new each and every time I had the opportunity to meet with him. He was brilliant. He was also equally patient when explaining the many technical details that, I am sure, so many of us emailed or messaged him about at random times throughout the day. He could also be very funny and I will miss his humor that often lightened the mood of an otherwise serious, sometimes stressful, conversation. He will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathies to his entire family. - Eric Eisenman"
