"My sincere condolences to Jeremy?s Family & Friends. I knew Jeremy from High School- and he was such an incredible person. The world has truly lost someone incredible. Rest In Peace. "
On Sunday June 28, 2020, Jeremy Alan Rafalko passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in Des Moines, IA.
Jeremy was born April 24, 1980, in Royal Oak, MI. He studied engineering at the University of Michigan before beginning a career in financial services technology, most recently with Wells Fargo. He was respected by all for his superior intellect and passion for excellence.
Jeremy's other passions were his miniature schnauzers, Oliver and Ida Mae, who were his constant companions and spending time talking with his beloved mother. He will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and the "Jeremy" smirk.
Jeremy is survived by his mother Joyce, father Jerry (Diane), sister Jamie (Derek), and niece Destiny.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport of De Soto, Iowa or your favorite pet rescue.
If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you home again.

"Sending my thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences to Jeremy's family. Jeremy was a light in the lives of everyone he met. I don't have many high school memories that don't involve him. He was that friend you could count on to be there for a late night dessert when you were stressing, for a laugh everyone you needed it, and he was the friend you could count on to break out I to song with you, when know one else understood. He was a involved in so many of the moments that helped shape my life and my path. I am heartbroken that he is gone. He will be sorely missed. I know that heaven just gained an amazing new soul."
"I had the pressure working with Jeremy over the last year. He was such joy to work withm. I know we drove him crazy with all our last minute changess. He always would laugh and say "OK I am telling you I can't get this done for you in the half an hour but it will be done today". He was always so accommodatingand with such great attitude. He always made me laugh with his great sense of humor and never complained despite his crazy workload. He is going to be dearly missed.Suchy specia soull. Dear Jeremy I am really going to miss you. "My sincere condolences to the family. I was Jeremy?s teacher many years ago in Novi, and will always be grateful that I was able to spend that year with him. He could light up any room with his beautiful smile and caring ways. I hope that you can find comfort knowing that Jeremy touched so many lives. Sending prayers your way. "
"Uncle Jerry, Aunt Joyce, Jamie & Destiny - as well as Aunt Diane, and Derek: Obviously there are no words which could be spoken, uttered or whispered right now that could ease the loss of Jeremy. I wasn't fortunate enough to see him much as we all became adults, but I was fortunate enough to see him when we were both younger. I knew back then he had a bit of an old soul, but not too old of a soul to still be full of fun, and full of love. I'm beyond sorry for losing such an insatiable spirit! I love (AND MISS) each of you! Renee' "
"I met Jeremy when he started working at Wells Fargo and we became fast friends. He has always been one of the most intelligent, witty, and honest people I know. He was a great man and he will be truly missed. "
"Jeremy, you were a rare light. You were one of the first people I ever knew who acknowledged it was okay to care, to feel, to empathize, to be exactly who you are. In school, you taught a lot of immature kids what it was like to show strength and kindness. You led by example. You were funny, genuine, charming, and you had those darn eyes that let you get away with anything. It was an honor to be your friend. I won?t ever forget you. I never have."
"Jeremy, you were such an amazing person to work with. Your positive attitude , calm nature and ability to help others made you such a great person to work with. I remember just the other day celebrating your birthday on the phone. Even though it was your birthday and you were off you joined the call to help us. You will be deeply missed by the entire team."
"I wasn?t sure how I felt about posting about this but I have decided that I want to. On Sunday June 28th I lost my uncle. He was an amazing person who brought light into a lot of peoples lives. He is one of the smartest and funniest people I know. We shared a love for many things like music, dance, Harry Potter, and word games. I will miss your many jokes you would say during these games. I will miss your well known laugh and smirk. I will miss everything about you that made you the wonderful uncle you were. I am so incredibly grateful for the memories I was able to make with you. I will never forget when we sang love shack on the karaoke machine together. I will never forget when we went on drives in your convertible. I will never forget how much you loved Christmas and being able to use glitter for everything. There are not enough words and there will never be enough time to express how much I love and care for you. Even though you are not here on earth with me you are still in my heart and by my side every single day. Supporting me throughout my struggles and watching me fulfill the dreams we talked about. I will always love you and I will never stop missing you. ??"
"Jeremy, ?JerBear? was so kind, hilarious, and sweet. I first met him when I was just 21 years old and we became fast friends. We worked together at Interfirst Mortgage Company and I was (and still am) so grateful for him. He will be greatly missed. We would spend so much time together and he really helped me to grow as a person, he helped me to feel confident and like I could conquer anything. His laugh ? was the absolutely one of the best in the world ?. Rest In Peace, sweet friend. ??? Sending his family love and strength during this very difficult time. "
"Thinking of you all during this awful time. Thought, hugs and love to all of you! "
"My thoughts and prayers to the family - he was a very kind and wonderful person to all and was very loved by all -"
"I am so sorry for the loss to your family and to the World. I will always remember Jeremy as not only my "IT Go-to" in the old Inter First days but, a genuinely warm, humorous and intelligent individual. "
" Jeremy was one of my favorite people at Wells. I'll never forget the time we spend working endless hours together on multiple projects. He was loved and appreciated by everyone here. He always put a smile on my face and his memories will continue to do so. I hope this story brightens your day and helps you realize the number of lives he has touched. He?ll never be forgotten. Shanti"
"Rest In Peace Cousin. "
"I only recently began working with Jeremy, however, he quickly became one of my favorite people at Wells. He was helpful, caring, and amazingly quick-witted and funny. It's not often you run into your humor soul-mate during a pandemic, but alas I am fortunate to have met someone who made me belly laugh even when discussing the most mundane and dry topics. I will miss him dearly and am sorry, to every one of his family and friends, for your loss. "
"I?m so heartbroken to hear about my dear old friend. Jeremy has always held a special place in my heart. So many fond memories and defining moments in my life included him. Joyce, Jamie and Destiny; my heart goes out to you. I?m so sorry for this tremendous loss. My heart aches for you. "
"Joyce and Jamie, I am so sorry. I can?t even imagine the pain you are in. Jeremy was the sun and the world just revolved around him. I loved him from the moment we met. He was always smiling and so giving of his love. Although our lives moved us away he was always in my thoughts and I loved catching up with him during our birth month and Christmas. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. The world lost a light and I?m so heartbroken. Xoxo LeAnne "
"I have been working closely with Jeremy over the last several years at Wells. He was an amazing individual - calm, smart but full of snappy comments (my favorite) with a heart of gold. It was my honor to know him and be in his life in a small 'work' way. My sincere condolences to his family and peace and comfort on his passing. I will miss him tremendously. "
"I am so sorry to hear of Jeremy's passing. I had the pleasure to work with Jeremy in past years. He was very intelligent and always took the time to share his knowledge. I pray for his family to find peace and comfort during this difficult time. "
"Joyce, Jamie and family, and Jerry- words are not adequate in expressing my sadness at learning of your tremendous loss. I knew Jeremy virtually from his birth until he moved to Iowa. He was a very bright, interesting, and often humorous young man who will be hugely missed by many. May God bless and comfort all of you in your time of unimaginable grief. Again, my most- heartfelt condolences, and don't hesitate to ask if there is anything I can do to ease your pain. George Cojanu"
"I am truly saddened to hear of this news. I had the pleasure to work with Jeremy for a number of years. While I only met him in person once in all that time, his intellect, abilities, personality, laugh, wit, and humor came through the many phone calls and other modes of communications we shared. Whether it was work related or personal, I can honestly say that I am a better and more informed person due to the relationship I had with him. You will truly be missed, my friend... Steve Domine"
"Jeremy was one of a kind and having the pleasure of calling him a friend is something I will always cherish. His laugh was infectious and his quick whit and sense of humor were second to none. Rest easy, friend. I love you and will miss you dearly. "
"Jeremy was such a great and fun person to work with. Always one to bring a smile to everyone's face. He will missed by all of us at Wells Fargo. I will pray that the Lord will yive your family strengh and comfort during this difficult time."
"I had the pleasure of working with Jeremy over the last several years and I am terribly saddened by his passing. I learned something new each and every time I had the opportunity to meet with him. He was brilliant. He was also equally patient when explaining the many technical details that, I am sure, so many of us emailed or messaged him about at random times throughout the day. He could also be very funny and I will miss his humor that often lightened the mood of an otherwise serious, sometimes stressful, conversation. He will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathies to his entire family. - Eric Eisenman"
