Middletown, RI - Emery Francis Cordeiro, 75, of 43 Ward Avenue, Middletown, formerly of Indian Avenue, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at Newport Hospital Newport, RI.He was the former husband of the late Helen Kennedy Cordeiro. Born in Newport, RI on February 17, 1929, he was the son of the late John and Maria Gomes Cordeiro. Mr. Cordeiro served in the United States Navy from 1948 to 1953. Mr. Cordeiro started his career at the Middletown Fire Department in July of 1958 until January of 1986, retiring as Lt. after 28 years. He is survived by two sons Michael E. Cordeiro of Portsmouth, RI, and Kenneth J. Cordeiro of Middletown, RI, his daughter Mary Elizabeth Cordeiro of Middletown, RI, and two grandchildren David Cordeiro and Grace Cordeiro. His funeral will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2004, at 10:00 from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a prayer service at 11:00 in St. Columba Catholic Cemetery Chapel, Brown?s Lane, Middletown.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Donations in his memory may be made to the Middletown Rescue Wagon Fund, 239 Wyatt Road, Middletown, RI 02842.
