"It was only 6 weeks before the end of George's life that I got to meet him, the brother of my grandfather, Henry, that I never got a chance to meet. It meant a great deal to me to meet him and to gain a glimpse into that generation of the Medeiros family line that I had never known. I know what I good man he was and what a good man Henry was based on the interesting stories he told. I was around George only a couple of hours a day over a four day period, invaluable time that I will carry with for the rest of my life. That was the time I needed to get to know him. I can now pass on to my son, Alex, what his great grandfather's family was like, thanks to George and his stories. I know he is missed by many."

Paulette Medeiros Bowen - Dece.. wrote on Nov 28, 2004:

"Twenty three years ago, I knocked on the front door of my Uncle George?s and Aunt Margaret?s home on Third Street in search of my father, and George?s brother, Henry. They not only welcomed me into their home, but they also welcomed me into their hearts. George ultimately became the bridge to my father and to my Portuguese heritage. I and my two children, Kimberly and Christopher, will miss hearing him tell the wonderful stories of our family?s early years in Newport as they grew up in the shadows of the magnificent mansions. The stories will live on in our hearts and will be passed down to my three grandchildren and hopefully beyond. Someday, when it?s my time to knock on the doors of Heaven, I know my beloved Uncle George will once again be there to welcome me."
