Ethel Louise Wosencroft
May 3, 1913 - May 15, 2005

KINGSTON, RI - Ethel Louise Allston Wosencroft, 92, of 429 Old North Road, Kingston, RI passed away Sunday, May 15, 2005, at South County Hospital, Wakefield, RI. She was the wife of the late Herbert Lee Wosencroft to whom she was married for fifty one years. Born in Newport, RI on May 3, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Herbert B. and Lucinda Ashe Allston.Ethel worked at the Naval Underwater Systems Center as an electrical engineering draftsman and also at Raytheon Submarine Corporation. She was a cartographer for the United States Army and also worked for General Electric Corporation. Ethel was a 1930 graduate of Rogers High School, a 1937 graduate of Rhode Island School of Design, where she received an honorary degree, in Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1990. Ethel loved her family, was proficient in the fine arts and furniture restoration. She traveled to Paris for her art work and museums. Ethel was a member of the Mt. Zion AME, Church of the Ascension and the Newport Historical District Commission. She is survived by her children Herbert Allston Wosencroft of Quartz Hill, CA, Robert Edward Wosencroft of Providence, RI, Kathleen Ann Wosencroft of Peacedale, RI, Phyllis Arline Wosencroft of Malden, MA, Janice Elizabeth Trezvant of Portsmouth, RI, Marilyn Lee Seaforth of Lowell, MA, Paula Jean Thompson of Peacedale, RI, Barbara Lois DeGraphenried of North Kingstown, RI, and Ethel Marie Wosencroft of Kingston, RI, eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, her nephew, Frank R. Seaforth Jr. of Old Saybrook, CT, her niece, Lesley A. Seaforth of Newport, RI, and several cousins.She was the mother of the late Gilbert Gerald Wosencroft and Stephen Albert Wosencroft, and the sister of the late Arline Marie Seaforth, Carlton, Courtney, Herbert and Edward Allston. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2005, at 10:00AM in Trinity Church, Queen Anne Square, Newport. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, from 4-8pm in the Hambly Funeral Home, ?Brick House? 30 Red Cross Avenue, Newport. In lieu of flowers gifts in Ethels name can be given to the Herbert Lee Wosencroft Scholarship at Rogers High School, Newport, RI 02840 or to South County Adult Day Services, 283 Post Road, Wakefield, RI 02879.
