"Lucky me to have had Andrea in my life even if it was through the occasional RAK postcard she would send from time to time. When I was a "newbie" in Carving Consortium she was generous and encouraging with her knowledge and experience and she was a "sister-artist" in the best sense of the word. My warmest wishes to her husband and family...may God comfort you. Her influence and spirit are still with us... until we meet again."

"Brian, Paul and David, Andrea and I took piano lessons from the same teachers when we were children - and at the time Andrea I think was also in Girl Scouts - they tried to get me to join, to no avail. We saw each other as were growing up in school or in town, as Portsmouth was not anymore a small community, and Burke's Bakery was well known to those of us who lived in Portsmouth. And then later on, Andrea met Brian. Brian, years later after you and Andrea were married, I met you when you and my step-father, Frank Brockway, worked together at Newport Hospital - will never forget you bringing him home in the Blizzard of '78 - thank you so much, Frank was such a great man. Paul - you and cousin Rick have been friends for years - I'm sure he shares my sorrow - David - we never really knew each other, but used to see you at Reidy's regularly on Saturday mornings. From the many, many condolences, it sounds like Andrea touched many people - she will be missed. To you, her family, and to the many people who never had the chance to meet Andrea in person - you missed a wonderful opportunity - but the internet is a wonderful thing and however Andrea touched you - you were fortunate."

"Dearest Brian and Family, Andrea?s Mother and my Mother are cousins and I am saddened that I did not know Andi as so many of you have expressed here now. Most of my memories are of fun and happy childhood family gatherings, particularly during the holidays, when I would wait in eager anticipation of visiting their childhood home to celebrate the season. Our beloved Aunt Ann and Uncle Norman and their 3 wonderful children, Andrea, Paul and David were always so wonderful to us and always so much fun to be with them during this joyous time of season. Over the years, Aunt Ann and I would write letters to keep in touch on how the family was doing ? and I treasure re-reading them as part of my own ritual each and every Christmas. In more recent years, we would look forward to visiting Andi and Brian during their holiday open house. My home is now filled with many beautiful artistic pieces created by their talented and loving hands. While our times spent together and ?chats? on the phone were few they were not without a great deal of love, awe and respect for the work that they did, the gifts that they shared and the love that was felt by all. I will truly miss you Andi. You will forever be in my heart."

My most recent collaboration with Andrea was her participation in a Peace themed carving challenge. As always, she did wonderful, evocative carvings... I feel it only fitting that one of these images be part of my memorial to her. Please come see her peace dove at http://socrates.berkeley.edu/~cjatkins/scholespeace.jpg and you will see what I mean with your own eyes. "Andrea and I never met, but she touched my life through our connection to two online stamp carving groups. She was lovely, kind, and generous in her support and praise, and enthusiastic in her love of art and her love of flowers and their beauty. As the host of "The Language of Flowers" swap, she encouraged 50 artists with supportive private emails during our creative process and keep an ongoing online dialogue with the entire group. She compiled 50 lovely collections in which each of the 50 artists' flower images were displayed in protective covers and mailed them to each of us. The math is staggering. Not finished, she scanned each card to a web site for all to enjoy. Through this entire process she gave so much of herself, while maintaining a wonderful sense of humor. I will miss you, Andrea. My thoughts are with your family and friends."

I knew her through the Carving Consortium and Erasercuts groups and always found Andrea to be supportive, creative on so many levels, and just so sweet, with a sense of humor. She knew that I had once lived nearby and would share impressions of the seasons, of the wildflowers, of the turbulent ocean in storms. She shared her knowledge of art, always helpful when a problem came up. She sympathized with my attempts to organize all the supplies and ephemera that artists collect, and admitted to being challenged that way herself! She counted herself fortunate to be married to a man who shared and understood her passions. She was on this earth for much too short a time, but we were blesssed to have known her, and for that I am deeply grateful. I will treasure her art that she shared over the years."

We shared our love of cats when she would send emails with photo's of her cats, along with photo's of the strays who would find their way to her stoop. At one point I remember that she sent photo's of a friend's flower garden in England, I loved the colors & the fact that she shared these with me. Brian I remember to when she told you that she was gathering up some goodies to send my way, you said you were happy to see her share some of her stash. "I first met Andi in 1984, working at Transcom! There are so many wonderful memories that I will always remember. I especially enjoyed the times that we got together for dinner at her home, and mine, and other friend's as well clamboils were one of our favorite meals!. There was always laughter and friendship at those gatherings. When Andi opened her stained glass studio I was really excited for her. The 2 stained glass clocks that she made for me still hang on the walls in my home. She also made a stained glass cross that still hangs in the window of our Parish Center. The light that shines through it is the hope that Andi is bathed in the warmth and comfort of eternal light. I am also comforted that a part of Andi will always be with me. I am sorry that I hadn't kept in touch with Andi and Brian these past years. You will always be in my prayers! God bless you Andi."

"I meet Andrea a few years ago on the internet. We were both members of a Art Based Yahoo group. We collaborated in many group art projects. I was fortunate to meet Andrea, Brian her husband, and their cats. She has been a great friend, and helped me get started in Stained Glass. Andrea was such a warm person, with a heart of gold. I'm going to miss her so much. She left us way too soon, but I know she is in Heaven, continuing with her artistic endeavors. My sincere sympathy goes out to Brian, & family, as well as to her extended family. I miss you Andrea!"

"Words can't express my feelings for the loss of our loved one Andrea. Andrea was one of the first artists I met on RST, an online rubberstamping group, over 7 years ago. She never missed a call for help in the aid of art ideas or a card or an e-mail to me when it was a birthday or illness or death in my family. She was a wonderful online friend and such a talented generous and caring person. I was blessed to have known her. Truly Andrea will be missed dearly. My love, heart and prayers go out to Andrea's family and friends. God Bless you all. Hugs, Joellen from Illinois"

"Andrea was the most wonderful generous precious person that I know. I have been touched by her presense and she will leave a lasting mark on my life. She got me to do things I would never have tried on my own. There are no real words that I can use that express the sadness in my heart that she is gone. She was the closest person to a soulmate that I have ever known at the moment I still feel lost. Goodbye Andi, godbless, I bet heaven will be an even better place to end up now that you are there. God bless"

"Andrea was a wonderful friend, a talented artist and a generous teacher. I met her through an internet rubber stamping group but got a chance to meet Andrea and Brian when she invited me to come stay at her house to learn to make silver clay jewelry. I'm so glad I have that memory. One of our internet friends said this morning that Andrea is probably teaching the angels to stamp this very minute. Love and prayers to her family and close friends, Judi Kauffman"
