"A good man , Mr. Arkins."
"I would like to offer my condolences at the death of Danny. I was glad to have had the opportunity to have visited him in 2003 when I was in the US on business and will offer a Mass for him at our local church"
"Dear Family, Dan was such a nice man. My daughter remembered him from her days at Portsmouth High School. He was also a long time patient of my husband, the late Dr. Robert Davidson. Dan also did some landscape work for us one summer. I will always remember his Irish humor. I know that you all grieve his loss. My deepest sympathy to everyone. Sincerely, Rosemary Davidson and Family"
"Dear Mary and Dan, The death of your dad Danny is like the ending of an era. I have so many wonderful memories of your parents, and my family, getting together on sundays when we were kids. All the Irish parents, up in the kitchen talking about the Old Country, and all their American kids, raising hell in the basement, or outside, or wherever. They were all so brave, really, coming over to this country from Ireland, and making their way. Luckily, they all found each other here. And remember when my dad and your dad went to see "Riverdance" -- the two of them all dressed up for the big night out in Boston? Your father was one of a kind -- a dear, very funny, kind, and loving man so very proud of his family. And he had much to be proud of. We will all miss him very much, as we miss your mother and brother -- each so full of life and love. I wish I could have been at the funeral. I was in Cleveland, with Douglas's sick aunt, until today. I wish I could have given you both a hug, and told you in person how so very sorry I am. Much love to you both, Bernadette"
"Dan, You and your family are in my thoughts & prayers. I am here for you and your family if you need anything or just a ear to listen. Regards, Tracy"
"Dan and Family Best wishes from all of the Lewis family."
"Dear Mary & Dan, Gerry & I were so saddened to read about the passing of your Dad. We have such wonderful memories of the time we spent our vacation with your family at the old farmhouse. We came back to CA knowing we had friends for life. We also are very appreciative for the special friendship you & your parents had with Gerry's Dad, Ray Sullivan. Our thoughts & prayers are with you and your families. Love, Gerry & Lorretta Sullivan Mike, Kathy, David, Pat, Tim & Dan"

"Mary, I am very sorry about your Dad. He was a sweet man, always having a smile on his face and a kind word. Please accept my condolences."
"Dear Daniel and Mary, I'm so sorry to read of your father's death. I have such fond memories of those cookouts your family used to throw for our class at St. Anthony's. Seeing your dad's obituary made me think, as I often do anyway, of Joe and what a great guy and good friend he was. I wish you and your families peace and strength. With my deepest sympathy, Paula Bodah."
"My deepest sympathy to the entire Arkin's family. I frequently worked with your father at Portsmouth High School, and it was always a pleasure. Mr. Arkins was a true gentleman: pleasant, mild mannered and always willing to help out. We had many a good conversation and I will miss him and his Irish brogue."
