Newport, RI - Lucia A. Loyola, 73, of 87 Girard Avenue, Newport, RI, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Mass General Hospital, Boston, MA. Born in Montesarchio, Italy on December 13, 1933 she was the daughter of the late Carlo Federico and Pasqualina Iannelli Geleng.Mrs. Loyola worked on the Newport Naval Base, retiring in 1980. She loved flea marketing, playing Bingo at the Knights of Columbus in Middletown and was a former bowler at the Newport Naval Base Bowling Lanes. She is survived by her sons Amado C. Loyola, Jr. of Duncan, British Columbia, Ruffino G. Loyola of Newport, RI, Gene B. Loyola of Portsmouth, RI and Lino A. Loyola of Portsmouth, RI. She was the sister of the late Giovanni Geleng. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2007 at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 16, 2007 from 5-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
