Westport, MA - James Edward Harrington, 75, of 100 Village Way, Westport, RI, formerly of 43 Attleboro Avenue, Portsmouth, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at home. He was the husband of the late Mabel ?Vicki? Vickery Harrington. Born in Fall River, MA on February 6, 1932, he was the son of the late James Edward and Olive Loretta Stacy Harrington.Mr. Harrington served in the United States Navy. He owned and operated The JE Harrington Associates for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He also worked for John Hancock, Mutual of Omaha, and Midland National Life Insurance for many years. As a young boy he worked at Stop Shop. Mr. Harrington was a member of the President?s Club for Midland National Life Insurance. He also enjoyed singing in barber shop quartets and was an avid golfer. He is survived by his children, James E. Harrington III of Fall River, MA, David W. Harrington of Somerset, MA, Carol A. Rogers of Fall River, MA, Kelley A. Shearman of Portsmouth, RI and Karen F. Harrington-Mello of Middletown, RI, his brother Charles Berube of Baltimore, MD, twelve grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and his longtime companion Violet Alice King of Westport, MA. He was the brother of the late Kenneth F. Harrington and Richard Harrington. His funeral will be held on Monday, April 2, 2007, at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 1, 2007, from 6-8 in the Connors Funeral Home. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hospice Palliative Care, 502 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA 02720.
