"Dear Rick, Frank, Jose and family, Your mother was one of a kind. Her generosity to others was outstanding. She helped so many people financially, who couldn't do it on their own. She and your Dad were the foundation for the fishermen. I remember the large fruit baskets when I was ill, and the bottles of wine during Christmas, and I was only an employee of an establishment they did business. They also made sure that each employee of that establishment got a gift during the Holiday. Sincere condolences. I pray for your peace and comfort during this difficult time. Norma Anthony"

Many nights he would go to the bar under the restauranteand enjoy a few drinks and conversation. "Dear Salas family and Aunt Dottie, My respects and prayers to all of you in the loss of Aunt Mary. May God bless you and keep you during this diffcult time."
"Dear Salas Family, I was so surprised and saddened when I heard of Mary's passing. I would be surprised when I saw her helping at the numerous church feasts on the Island, and running the show like she did her business. One of the funniest things I remember was when she let Rick borrow her new car, and he asked my father and Uncle John if he could park it on Broadway, in front of the store so nothing would happen to it. Just before we were ready to close there had been an accident on Broadway in front of the store, Rick ran out to the front to make sure it wasn't his mother's car, it was fine. But then it happened, someone was rubber necking, hit the lamp post which in turn fell across the top of Mary's car, crushing it. I think it was the Officer that went with Rick to explain it to his mother. It's little stories like this that helped to make Mary the character she was and will always be a big part of your memeories of her and her family. May it comfort you to know, that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Diane Raposa-Gadbaw Crest Farm"
