Middletown, RI- Thomas J. Bolender, 54, of Middletown, RI, died Sunday, October 21, 2007 at his home. Born in Newport, RI on January 24, 1953, he was the son of Carl Bolender, Sr. of Middletown, RI and Virginia Bolender of Newport, RI. Tom was an avid horseman and golfer. He was an excellent polo player and whip master of the Blue Ridge Hunt Club in Charlottesville, VA. He was a master carpenter in both Virginia and Newport, RI. He was a devoted son, brother and friend to all who knew and loved him. His passion was for people, horses, and being on the water. His amazing smile and laughter will be remembered by all. Besides his mother and father, he is survived by his long time companion Cheryl Kilroy, his daughter Karen Bolender of Atlanta, GA, his brothers Robert Bolender of North Salem, NY, and Carl ?Bill? Bolender, Jr. of Middletown, RI, his sisters Christina Shepherd of Raleigh, NC, Charlotte ?Lollie? Bolender of Edgewater, FL, and Danielle Bolender of Newport, RI, his former wife Christie Bolender of Portsmouth, RI, his seven nieces and nephews and his loyal dog ?Lola?. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 from 4:30- 7:30 with a Memorial service to follow at 7:30 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI. Burial will be private. Donations in his memory may be made to the Robert Potter League For Animals, PO Box 412, Newport, RI 02840.
