Pauline Siney Ward
September 8, 1926 - February 1, 2008

Pauline Siney Ward, 81, of Donald Drive, Middletown, RI, died Friday, February 1, 2008 at Newport Hospital after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.She was the beloved wife of Douglas H. B. Ward.Born in Waterbury, CT on September 8, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Philip W. Siney and Edith Dickinson Siney. She was a graduate of Rogers High School.Along with her husband, she owned and operated Wards Printing for many years. During those years she derived great pleasure from interactions with her customers. Mrs. Ward was a parishioner of St. Georges Episcopal Church since 1935 where she was the Director of the Altar Guild, a member of the choir and a former vestry member. At the time of her death, she attended St. Marys Episcopal Church where she faithfully continued her service to the Altar Guild.Pauline also served on the Board of Directors of the Nina Lynette Home and Townsend Aid for the Aged. She was a former Diocesan Board Member of the Episcopal Church Women. She was a member and Past President of the Mosaic Club. She enjoyed memberships in the Preservation Society, Redwood Library, AARP and the King Center. After her retirement, she pursued a lifelong interest in painting, particularly in watercolors. She was a member of the Newport Art Museum and the Artists Guild.In addition to her husband of 63 years, she is survived by her daughter, Janet Ward Martin and her husband, Henry, of Attleboro MA and her son Phillip H. Ward and his wife, Beth, of Middletown. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Meredith Martin Woodcock and her husband, Jeff, and Elizabeth Martin Riley and her husband, Paul. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Meagan, Sarah and Ellie Riley and Evan, Caitlin and Carley Woodcock and many devoted nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Bernice E. Kleven. Her family and friends will remember her best for her deep and abiding faith, her love for adventure, her sense of fun, as well as, her often irreverent humor.A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11 am in St. Marys Episcopal Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Inurnment will follow in St. Marys Churchyard, Portsmouth.Calling hours are respectfully omitted.In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Marys Episcopal Church Altar Guild, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
