Newport, RI - Carrie Belle Williams Wayne, 86, of 47 Warner Street, Newport, RI, died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. She was the wife of the late Arnold J. Wayne. Born in Newport, RI on November 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Williams, Sr. and Hattie Woodson Williams. Mrs. Wayne was a 1940 graduate of Rogers High School. She worked at Raytheon for several years in the Blue Print Department and various other jobs in the Newport Area. Mrs. Wayne was a member of Community Baptist Church, where she sang in the church choirs, and also served as assistant clerk, Sunday school teacher and bible school teacher, as well as various other church committees. She is survived by her children, William Donald Wayne of Providence, RI, Robert Gordon Wayne and his wife Linda of Sacramento, CA, Pamela Woodson of Virginia Beach, VA, Grace Dore and her husband Anthony of North Kingstown, RI and Estella Miller of Middletown, RI, thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Arthur Williams, Stephen Williams, Jr., LeRoy Williams, Richard Williams, Mary Bowers, Hattie Williams and Rose Lee Williams. Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 6, 2008, at 11:00 am in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be in Braman Cemetery in Newport.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2008, from 4-8 in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
